Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

People, relax

Why is everybody so worried about being laid off? Honestly, how many of you can tell me leaving this place wouldn't be a blessing in disguise?

Lousy pay, lousy (if any) benefits, lousy hours, lousy work environment... The way I see it, every single one of us can only go up from here...

Just my two cents...

The only honest people in this organization are the ones you see everyday, and even some of them are questionable.

As a person that got laid off in 15, after working there for over 10 years... your post is BS.
I still haven’t found full time work.

If you're looking at 25 or more years...and you're still here...and haven't started preparing...after seeing the writing on SW's walls, better start looking for a bridge to live under.
I started preparing the day they blamed my friend for her own death. If that seemed like a good idea they've got no business trying to run a successful corporation.

Your two cents isnt worth much im afraid.

To people newer, younger, yea a layoff wont bother them much. They will shrug, go update their resume and go find something new at another park and they move on pretty easily.

Now imagine you are in your 50s. Youve worked this one job for 30+ years. You have 0 practical experience in resumes, interviewing, or translating skills from seaworld that often has very specific jobs to a new place. You get laid off and now you have to job hunt and you also arent great with technology. If you cant understand how all of that doesnt put a little fear in someone and anxiety, then you need to learn some empathy.

Also for many they love this job still, not necessarily the top leaders but the day to day and the animals we care for. Its rare you can just leave here and get the same feeling elsewhere but i suppose you are prob mid 20s and have never really committed your life to a company beyond a couple years each. To find one you want to make a career for and be on your way and have bad management ruin it is awful.
