I'm talking about everything: pay, benefits, job security... I'm guessing a lot of people are here because of the lack of the third one, but the first two points are what's still keeping me here.

One reason why I'm still here is because nobody in my area (RTP) has been able to match my total compensation (salary, bonus, stock, benefits). Other companies around here just don't pay that much. It's not Silicon Valley. So I'll stick around until my number comes up, and then do the best I can do to find something close.
Lets be honest. The majority of people at certain point realized Cisco is one of the most laid back, work-life balanced companies. I believe that is the reason for many of us to stay. Many of us can work from home.
Only one problem: I am afraid that company may be coming to an end. Then people will be judged by their skills when trying to find a new job. Major employers in high tech have competitive schedule and timelines. It may be a tough transition and possible only for folks who kept their skills up to
date.
Compensation s—s, yearly layoffs, and a bunch of little tribes from acquisitions or geographies.
I have worked at Cisco for many years as a software developer. Perhaps it is better if you don't work at the headquarters site, there is less politics here. The people, software I work on, compensation, and benefits are all OK. Not the top rung, but still pretty good. Glassdoor gives Cisco an overall 4 out of 5, which is right about where I would rate it.

only losers will stay in this company. I joined this company out of ignorance, and spent many years, it was a total waste. Constant layoffs, slackers all around, no desire to build products or take good decisive decisions. Rote 11-3 job. Useless company. Plus threat of constant layoffs. Only regret is why was i not laid off but quit.
The pay and benefits for sales are total sh–. No RSU's this year, no raises, no promotions, just pay cuts to base salaries and unrealistic high goals.

Engineers are the most unhappy because Cisco is a finance/sales company. They buy technology and sell it, not create it anymore. In this model engineers are not as important as they used to be. Shareholders are the gods now and what they want is profits and quarterly numbers.
Buying companies and milking them, hitting margins with stock buy backs and layoffs is what Cisco has been for decades. I know some people are smarter and see change quickly but i'm astonished how smart some engineers are, yet they just don't see this or can't accept their low status in the company.
I love Cisco so much, I would divorce my wife if that was a condition to keep working at Cisco. I named my dog Cisco, my cat Webex. I sleep in a tshirt with Cisco's logo on it.

I like my manager and team for the most part, but Cisco has lost its way on every level. Not a good long term career move.
The pay, benefits, and job security for sales people leads the industry. Cisco is a sales company masquerading as a tech company, we'll sell anything if the commissions are high enough.
You should be asking how satisfied engineers & product managers are with their jobs at Cisco.
