Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Who here is still happy with their job at Lowe's?

I can't be the only one. And before I get downvoted into oblivion - I'm not talking about job security. I know we have none, that's why I keep checking this page daily.

But I still like what I do, I'm still paid well, and I still like the people I work with. Lack of job security has not changed those facts.

So am I really the only one?

I love my job at Lowes, been with them for six years. I am at a store with really bad and toxic management, but we have had that before. I am a Front End Supervisor, I have been told to clean restrooms because we dont have CSA's anymore and my store does not hire a third party for cleaning the store. Its really starting to show, store is filthy. I cant make schedules like I used to, My ASM is clueless and is too busy with their favorites in other Depts. So my cashier schedule is kind of a joke. Just weathering the storm.

I love my job and I take (well took) a lot of pride in it. Corporate however has made the average store environment so toxic I dread walking through the door. We're cooked to the point of dizziness while having our workload tripled because they can't or won't hire anyone that will show up for work. I'm ready to crack, I can't take this anymore but I'm not in a position to just quit. It says a lot about a company when you consider crashing your car just so you don't have to deal with it anymore. Thanks Marvin

I like going back to the basics myself. Not enough coverage in the store? Not my fault or concern. Call boxes going off? I’ll get to those after I help the customer(s) in front of me. Call offs on the front end? I’ll get to that code 3/50 after I help the customers in my department. Not fast enough for you? Then call for a manager. Freight in all the aisles? I’ll get to it when I can. when I started with Lowe’s there were associates in every department all the time.

I like what I do, not what Corporate has been doing.

I keep wondering if today is the last day I’ll work for Lowe’s. Tomorrow I’ll wonder the same thing. In the meantime I’ll keep applying trying to find a job out of retail.

Pse here...nope miserable...totally miserable...being micro managed by a bunch of people who have never actually done sales. All of Depots failed exterior management has taken over telling us how to do things. We have also made everything way harder than it should be. I miss old Lowe’s.

Nope.
I sit in my car in the mornings and make myself go into work.
The people who use to be happy here are gone or have been beaten down.
Everyone is looking for work elsewhere.
Marvin has made Lowes in to a dont care environment.
Manager walk the store with phones to thier ears not making eye contact.
Sales associates reshuffle the six thousand items they keep getting but are not selling.
Cashiers dont care if they ring up accurately or not. What dies it matter when managment treats you like an indentured servant and not like a human being. They get thier ques from marvin, if its ok that he treats everyone like a dirty napkin to be thrown away well then so can they.
I use to love this job. Now I have anxiety attacks about being layed off. I have depression and often find myself thinking I just want to die.
I am looking for something else. But no call backs yet.

I still like the job to but I have finally quit stressing on the things that I can't do and focus on one customer at a time.if people don't want to wait then that's their prerogative not mine. Myself personally I'm back to the basics

I used to love working at Lowe's. Of course there were bad days, but I worked at a great store with great managers, great co-workers, and great customers. But now there are more bad days than good days, more mediocre managers hiding in their offices and trying to cover/kiss a– with corporate, fewer co-workers who are overworked and worried about their jobs, and many frustrated customers. I don't disparage anyone who still loves their job, and am grateful there a still some happy employees, but for many store employees it is becoming more difficult to enjoy working Lowe's.

Pretty much. At the end of the day, you need good leaders, as its them who enact policy. Under Marvin, every new roll out or policy has disrupted the very things you claim as positives. The ones I work with that I like? Many were forced out of positions, fired, or quit.
They used to be positives go getters, and now are all negative and complacent.
Myself included. There simply is no motivation, or reason to go beyond or even do your job!

I used to like helping customers, but the store policies enacted have crippled that as well. Its nearl;y impossible to help customers. There is no staff and no help, so when I encounter customers on the floor, most are already screaming and violent. They then dont articulate clearly what they want or need and to be honest, why should I have to deal with sh– like this when its corporate causing it?

We had a corp walk recently. We had ZERO lumber staff (very common) and as they walked many customers kept calling to them (like they do us daily). We work in a busy 50 mill store, and customer foot traffic is large. So these corp dic—ads do what? Do they assist customers? Answer their questions? NO! They go to unrelated depts and say this customer needs help! So I said to them what my bosses say to me - "well help them then!" They didnt like that. Too fkkn bad.

These corporate trolls couldnt answer simple queries such as where is your spackle, or do you sell any smaller sheets of sheet rock? As they stood in the sheetrock aisle!!

If corporate is going to cut, and cause lack of service, then not even offer customer service themselves, why should I? This is a fair question, that Marv would just make up lies for.

If you work at Lowes and like it in this environment, youre either a fool, a s—er, or on Marvs check book.
