Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Should we be afraid of more mass outsourcing like the Infosys deal?

How likely is for something like that to occur in the near future?

Don’t blame Hans for IT and VDSI mess. They are already being run as outsourcing entities without oversight or governance.

Bringing in infosys actually adds transparency and probably a way to dismantle current IT org riddled with politics and corruption.

The 2019 IT outsourcing to Infosys was poorly planned and executed that resulted in a disaster negatively impacting Verizon from a financial, productivity, and morale standpoint.

And yet the perpetrators of this scheme are still employed and raking in millions in salary, short term and long term incentives.

Yes. Since the day he arrived, Hans has viewed IT as a cost center and a commodity that can be purchased much cheaper on the open market bringing Verizon in line with industry benchmarks. The capital and expense savings then can be used to augment the funding required to build out the 5G network.

The 2019 IT outsourcing to Infosys was poorly planned and executed that resulted in a disaster negatively impacting Verizon from a financial, productivity, and morale standpoint. The consequence is in the future Verizon will move as much as work as possible to Verizon India (VDSI) combined with domestic layoffs. Outsourcing will continue, but will be more targeted and much smaller in scope.

Yes - at every US company. Same thing happened recently at Vanguard. Pretty soon we’ll all be working as contractors with no benefits and little to no future. Good middle class American jobs gone forever.

Should we be afraid? No. Should we be prepared? Yes.

I have no doubt a significant portion of network will be outsourced/rebadged in the near future.

There are only three things in life that are guaranteed: taxes, death and layoffs at Verizon. Its all a matter of time. Live your life to the fullest and don't worry about the bullsh*t you have no control over.
