Thread regarding Symantec Corp. layoffs

More good advice

Don't lose sleep, don't stress out about the impending layoff.
Take action, whether you think you'll be laid off or not.

  1. while you are still at Symantec, document your work history! Use your annual reviews to pick the good things you've done, and the job-title you have, with the month & year information.
  2. before putting your linked-in profile as available for recruitment, set it to private.
  3. Use the information you've gathered from #1 to update your profile chronologically.
  4. Now, look at your profile and what you're doing lately. What kind of job do you want? What is your strength? Put that as linked-in summary, which is basically how you would advertise yourself to a job recruiter.
  5. have a friend review your linked-in profile & summary.
  6. open your linked-in profile to all.
  7. sign up for dice.com, indeed.com, glassdoor.com, etc. etc. Beware: you'll be flooded with email and / or text messages.
  8. if you find a job you are interested in, look at the description, create a resume based on the description + your linked in profile. Cherry-pick the stuffs from your linked-in profile that match the job description.

Good luck....
It's not the end of the world...

I wish people would post these as threads themselves, this is really valuable info. Copied from @10HiYBX2-5yhl.
