Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Reputation High....Reality - Most Certainly The Opposite

Leaving a 10+ year local government career was tough, but joining NS seemed great. A short lived seven months, turned my future upside down. The morale, the "leadership", the "Top 21", equals failure if you're not corporate America. This was the absolute worst decision and disheartening experience I've encountered. It's nearly 2020. Some say "not the right one for the job". Previously, I worked almost five years without taking a "sick day" or using vacation. I was dedicated to work. NS quickly taught me the importance of life, knowingly we all only have one chance. So why continue to drive yourself for the almighty dollar? If the generation(s) behind me are our only hope for America rail, find yourself another way of life, reality seems to be straight off a split!

Wow this guy makes a decision based off the lies they tell. I'm sure he didn't know they were lying. Gives up a job because he thinks this is a better choice and you talk like that to him?. Must be NS management!!!!

Local government work can’t be compared to a real job dude. You should have stuck with your cushy gig. I know a lot of local government workers that run side gigs often barely turning up for their tax payer funded day jobs. Working gubmint vs private sector is like comparing fishing at the local lake vs Deadliest Catch. Best option for OP is to try and get back onto the gravy train.
