Thread regarding Stage Stores Inc. layoffs

All Stage to convert to Gordmans

The process has already started. Midwest markets first, then east coast next. Expect less store staffing because there is very little signage/setup needed in these stores...everything is "off-price" like TJMaxx. Sales in converted stores have been very strong. I do think this is a good strategy for the long term because traditional department stores are essentially dead.

Not as many closings as you think. They have the cost of conversions down to less than $125k per store. And the converted stores are earning back the investment much quicker than expected.

They will not have the cash to convert the remaining stores. They have hit their peak and it is all downhill from hear. You will see more closings before conversions. Stores will have less merchandise after Christmas and liquidation for many stores will soon start.
