Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

How did Honeywell sink so low?

Honeywell may not be the worst company, but it’s certainly the company that tumbled down the most in a short amount of time. How did we come to this position? Where did HON get it wrong?

Honeywell is a paycheck and that is all!! No one is proud to work here or enjoys coming in. I don’t understand why leadership doesn’t understand what they’ve created. Stop sending surveys asking if we like it here and plan on staying. Why would we stay? The answers are lies from those that don’t trust or truths from the brave souls out there. Bottom line, Honeywell will NEVER be a great place to work.

At one time, the focus was on delighting the customer by making their lives easier and better – and it was understood that good things like cashflow and profits and market share would follow as a natural outcome. Then there was a subtle but significant shift. Profit, cashflow, etc. became the primary goal and customers were simply the means to achieve the goal. Honeywell stopped seeing the customer as a partner in a mutually-beneficial relationship - now, the customer is "that annoyance standing between me and their money." Employees who know the true value (not dollars, but WORTH!) of Honeywell's products and services, who understand the customer's needs, and who have a longstanding relationship with many customers are completely demoralised.

I recently left after 22 years of seeing the company just continuing to devalue the employees that have put their heart and souls into the organization only to be tossed aside to bring people who may look good on paper but, have no formal experience in the jobs they are doing there at Honeywell.. Its all about making the Leaders richer and the employees more productive. There is no work life balance whatsoever with Honeywell anymore and its expected that you are available 24/7. And if your not, you don't last long at that place anymore. When will people have the nerve to stand up to this type of treatment from a Company? I guess never, because I waited for 22 years before I finally got smart and left.

Much of what people are posting here is illegal - the actions of the company not the employee.
I left in 16 when I saw the VP or Aero continue to produce and "virtually ship" product for our military so that he could claim the revenue by EOY. That same year we had 3 furloughs, yet I gave my hourly employees a 5-8% pay increase. Enough was enough. I found a new job and moved out of that God forsaken state.
As soon as I remembered it, I cashed out my pension as I had seen that dwindle to only $70K after working for them for 15 years.
I am sad to hear about what is still going on, but senior management has done this to themselves by driving out talented employees and not allowing them to train their replacements and retire with dignity.

Sky harbor is going to implode. It is led by un-ethical leadership that will cut corners and put people in danger that fly. You can't report any un-ethical behavior because of retaliation. If you do, you will be fired. It is completely out of control. I'm trying to get out of the snake pit. Oh by the way, all of these people reporting on this website cant be wrong.

Leadership (Division Presidents and Corporate) worships themselves. Scheme/plan everyday to figure out how to take $$ out of company and into their pockets

Two ways to view HON, from the investors’ standpoint and from the employees view. Unfortunately, they are diametrically opposed. And you know who leadership worships.

Culturally, HON followed the GE model far too long. "Neutron Jack" Welch was a visionary, but his disciples Bossidy and Cote lacked that vision and simply played follow-the-leader. Anything GE did, Honeywell followed suit. GE invested first in China, HON followed. GE moved hard manufacturing offshore, so HON did it, too. GE reduced their supplier base, HON did the same. If GE did it, it HAD to be the right thing.

Today, GE is a shadow of its former self and my guess is HON is headed in the same direction. To his credit, Darius' tenure at GE was minimal but I think there is too much GE-driven inertia and mind-set for the company to change enough in time to keep it from the same fate that befell GE.

Piss poor Leadership. The company is the face of the Leader and his character. Poor leadership is a clear reflection of the poor vision, direction, lackluster motivation and direction provided by the Leader.

At the end of the day, they deserve the praise, credit and also the guillotine.

Once a company of innovative engineers and scientists, now a company run by greedy executives supported by butt kissing middle management, all guided by lawyers and bean counters!!

Billions of $$$ invested in Indian universities, training low cost engineers.
Little or no investment in NA or EMEA universities. Maybe there are some research programs but there is no investment in people.
The result is an organization that is now saturated with sloppy Linux developers who know nothing about cost efficient embedded design. When the only tool you have is Linux, every solution requires a quad core MPU running at 2GHz.

Employees make the company not stock Jockeys polishing a t**d. Massive brain drain in past few years. Yes men and ppl with 0 experience won’t save it. Culture is so toxic nowadays that there is no way to reverse upcoming collapse.
