Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Can't sell protections plans during liquidation?

Why would they stop the sale of protection plans during liquidation if Sears was still an up and running company they go through the manufacturer the first year anyway so why would they stop the sell of protection plans?

@4hhf - Your store isn't honoring the manufacture warranties, the manufacture is honoring its own warranties; huge difference. When our store was being liquidated we had those same signs up as well. If a customer were to have any problem with a product purchased during the liquidation sale they were instructed that they had to contact the manufacture for resolution. As our liquidator would state, "All sales are where is, as is, and are final."

Well our store is honoring all manufacture warranties but can't sell protection plans there's signs everywhere saying all manufacture warranties in full effect.....Sears is a sham don't buy anything until it's 90% off it's not worth the gamble

Protection plans are required by law in several states to be backed by a certain amount of capital because they are by law insurance plans. If they are not backed by sufficient capital, selling those plans would be insurance fraud. Thee costs of supporting the protection plans are skyrocketing too, since as everyone but upper management predicted, the parts business fell apart and the only way to fix things is to order a replacement appliance leaving members unhappy for months losing them forever.

The sale is happening at a Kmart store, but the liquidators have purchased the inventory and are the ones who are selling it. And they don't plan to honor any warranties, which is why you aren't allowed to offer one.

Because during a liquidation sale the merchandise is in the possession of and being sold by the liquidation company, not Sears or Kmart.
