- Ask when and how you'll receive your last paycheck.
- Ask when your benefits (like health insurance) end.
- Ask whether you'll receive any severance.
- Do not resign
- File for unemployment benefits
- Be ready to document your job-hunting efforts (need this for unemployment).
- Consider your options for short-term income.
- Update your budget (or create it)
- Call your creditors and update them (if you cannot make payments)
- Massively cut expenses you can live without.
- Save, save, save…
- Talk to friends and family – vent
- Make a plan for self-care – take care of your health
- Ask for help if and when needed
