Any other back room associates feel like they are getting the raw end of the deal ! All the focus is on the floor associates and the back room associates are there just to clean up after them.. we can’t get our own stuff done... every one has forgotten about claims.. which has fallen to the wayside ! We are short staffed and management doesn’t care ... they just think all we do is unload trucks ... they don’t have a clue and neither does home office !

I have been with this company for 16 years and they are now bringing in brand new associates that are hired in making more than me. THIS is wrong on so many levels. Extremely degrading and unfair. I am hearing that backroom associates have received raises. None in my Club did. Does anyone else have to slot late trucks in the steel while the Club is open to clear the docks? This keeps us from cleaning up Claims as well as inconveniences the members unnecessarily. I don't think this is how the program is supposed to work. It makes no sense to me.
Didn't you guys get a raise? Merchandisers did not, and we have a lot to do as well. Too many chiefs giving commands. Oh well, just get it done, and all is well....
At my club in Illinois there are only 2 backroom associates and yes, they are made to do EVERYTHING. Go outside and pick up trash everyday. Unload all trucks including left over DC's that the evening crew didn't get to. Make super sandwich bales every single week. Try to get to Claims in between all of the cleaning, organizing, unloading, etc. We generally do not even get breaks and we also are stuck working by ourselves since we are not fully staffed. Oh, and blocked scheduling? What's that? We have not had our blocked scheduling yet because between the two of us we have to be there 7 days a week.
In our club it is never done on purpose but it does happen. We are working hard to get everything stocked that got dropped, work in hot items and drop more items that need stocked as well. It never fails that by 10:00 we are getting called to be runners, cashiers or do breaks for the front end. ( due to the frontend being shorthanded) We rush to get our pallets or trash off of the floor so that we can go up front. So, that puts us behind on stocking the consolidated pallets So until all areas get the staffing that is needed it will always affect others.
If we didn’t have to clean up the mess that is left everyday from the evening floor people we could get more done. They just drop and go
Anyone else working back room all the time but not back room associate? Or is it just me.
So here's a thought, if you think all other position do not have it as bad as the backroom and all clubs have an enormous amount of open position, why not go somewhere else in club where you are not so stressed and ready to walk out? Oh yeah, it's probably those sweet hours and more money. So it appears you are crying about something that you CAN control but you want the hours and money but not the work?
I challenge any of you who think us backroom associates who you think are so overpaid and sit on our butts doing nothing to work 1 week in our shoes ! Yeah we are all overwhelmed and yeah not everyday is crazy, but it isn’t a picnic back there either ! Plus having others dump everything back there cause they think someone else will just pick up after them since we can’t leave our work area a mess s—s too
The right thing to do would be to take all those carts the other areas like to just fill and leave back there, out to the floor, except for the ones that legit come back from the membership desk as returns. If everyone should be doing backroom now, then they can do their own claims and damages, right? I mean, those floor people think its such a gravy job, it should be no problem for them to take care of their own stuff.
May be a bit more exhausting now but before block scheduling and the elimination of third shift, there was a lot of down time, a lot of sitting in the office . But again , EVERY DEPARTMENT is struggling lately. So please stop acting like backroom associates are the only hard workers. Get over yourself.
All of us backroom associates say, come on back and give it a try. I imagine you would cry uncle within a week. At our club prior to the change we didn't sit on our butts and screw around we were always busy Before passing judgment on another area of the club try it out. Today the work load has tripled without assistance things will eventually fall behind. That's the master plan though.
We have 2- 4am and 1 -3pm in our club for the backroom and they send at least 1 person after 10 everyday to come help us in claims. Our 3 pm works in claims until the club closes and then she unloads. She also unloads when trucks show up in the afternoon. If receiving/claims is extremely behind then the afternoon manager sends one of his merchandisers to help.
Theres not a dept. in the building that's not suffering for help. Our backroom associates are some of the highest paid in the building . It's about time they earned every penny and can no longer sit on their butts all day shooting the c-ap. If you dont want to do the work, someone else will take that level c pay and that choice block schedule.
