Severence Calculation Q

How is severence calculated? If I came in from an acquisition two years ago, and I was with that company three years prior, is that 2 or 5 years of tenure which counts towards that calculation?

Having pictures or emails may facilitate your negotiation :)

Remember, everything is negotiable. Severance, healthcare, etc.

Same here. The policy is not applied equally. May be used like that just to be mean and spiteful.
So I made sure I told all my remaining colleagues what I got for $$ in case they get caught up in a RIF. Knowledge is power

I think they made a mistake here. You should have fought them on that point.
You retain your length of service when you come in via an acquisition.

For people who came in with the Sun acquisition severance included the years at Sun too.

Mine was calculated from my time at Oracle, not including the 5-6 years pre acquisition, even though Oracle acknowledged my 15 year anniversary, so go figure

5 years, it's the total of your pre-acquisition time + Oracle time
