Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

Frontier sold

☆Its 100% confirmed VP's, upper management have been in WV for the past two weeks. Building inspectors have been seen and tax docs for property taxes have been requested in the last 60 days at the Kanawha County Courthouse. Inventory of all company vehicles with year and miles have been requested. Sounds like selloff or bankruptcy. Either way it's an ominous sign

The WV PSC has ordered an audit of the Frontier company in West Virginia, so that could be the reason for a lot of the activity here.

Frontier has allowed their outside plant to deteriorate to 3rd world conditions in my opinion. Broken poles tied to new power poles with rope, zip ties to try to replace strand wrap, old poles left with cable not transferred to the new ones, lines and poles overgrown with trees and vines, wires hanging down everywhere in Southern WV. The WV PSC allowed this to happen. The federal and state government gave them millions to "expand broadband" and where did that go?? If they had concentrated on putting fiber to the homes where they could, they would still have customers for high speed internet and TV via fiber. They did nothing but let things deteriorate. 38 years of telcom experience here and waiting for the death of a very bad company via bad management AND bad regulation by the WV PSC.

The rumor I heard is that Armstrong Communications is looking to buy the Frontier options in Pennsylvania & West Virginia. They're a privately owned company with 2300 employees. I can't seem to find any info on whether they are Union or not.

If you are on the fence about your retirement/pension, do not underestimate what's about to happen.

If I were still there I would leave ASAP and grab my pension. If they go bankrupt you are not promised all of your pension

They wont not be taking questions because of selling off territories. LOL. Its going to be bigger than that. Only 3 companies or so this year haven't answered questions. And most had to do with Bankruptcy or something very negative

No Q&A at 2q earnings report, lots of speculation as to why, most feel it is because they are in current negotiations for selling off assets. Wouldn't be a surprise if they announce a sale ala NW territory after 1st quarter earnings report. They're shady like that

Frontier is broke, they need to sell. When you have new developments being built and you dont even try to provide service, its a joke. There are parts of W.V that steadily growing.

OP, are you saying ALL of Frontier is sold? Or just WV? What does upper mgmt being in WV have to do with it? Can anyone from the recently sold NW states confirm that upper mgmt and directors spent alot of time there just before the announcement?

I got an idea why don't all the managers and higher ups look in the mirror and treat themselves like they treat the field employees then wonder why the company is in the sh–ter it is not the field employees fault it is the higher up managers they are all a bunch of snakes and back stabbers including the managers puppets Formans

Or it's just this, not a sell..... Frontier Communications vehicles are seen at a facility, in Altizer, on Tuesday. The company is being sued by at least 150 disgruntled internet customers, and has been ordered to conduct an audit of its operations by the West Virginia Public Service Commission.....

Old school telecom mgmt methods abound in the call centers. If these industry dinosaurs who are a huge part of the problem ever wisened up and and brought their methods into the modern era it would do wonders. But why do that when you can just recycle the same old playbook year after year?

Or you could just manage by not speaking to your employees when you are in town. Just sit in an office and talk on your cell phone the whole time near employees that dont even report to you.

What an unnecessary way to manage... fear? Really? You can’t get respect through fear. You think we’re storming the beaches in Normandy? Get outta here

Frank, I agree with you to a certain extent. I ruled with an iron fist and my people feared me, but they also respected me. I was voted Most Eligible CCM two consecutive years because of my conviction to Verizon. Motivation thru intimidation was my credo!

You all don’t know a sign if it hit you on top of the head. When I was a trainee at Verizon, we were the sign of the times. I say if you can’t handle this, then go flip burgers for Christ’s sake. Where have all the cowboys gone??
