OXY Work hours flexibility

With the new geographic dispersement of the workforce, I’m curious at how flexible OXY will be with work hours and location.

How early can people come in?
Is 6-4 acceptable work hours?
Is there any appetite for working remotely a few days a week?

Asking as an APC employee who would prefer the CoC but is expecting otherwise and is not excited about. 1.5 to 2 hr commute each ways.

Oxy has been open to remote work. Several people do it on occasion and there was more conversation about allowing it formally with the office moves. I’m sure it will be a possibility depending on your manager.

@tgo thanks for the very helpful response. I agree with consistency, you don’t want to be “Where’s Bob, oh yeah, it’s the 3rd Wednesday of the month, he must be working from 9 to 3:15 today.”

Is there any appetite for working from home x number of days a week?

Oxy has very flexible work hours. Most people work 6-4, especially those who commute from the suburbs or take vanpools. Some work 6:30-4:00 with a 30 minute lunch break. Others work 6:30-4:30, 7:00-4:30 or 7:30-5:00 or even 8:00-5:30 / 8:00-6:00. You will find that many people take 30 minute lunch breaks to work a compressed day but there are individuals who take a full 1-hour lunch break and work a 10-hour day. It is not out of the norm to come to the office between 6 and 8 and leave between 3:30 and 6:00 pm. While Oxy's work hours are flexible, consistency is key.
