Have any of you been notified they are eliminating your position due to lack of work, only to never say another word for weeks, and then come back to tell you they changed their minds??? How was it handled? Anything in writing or all verbally? What did they have you start doing after the decided not to get rid of You? Same dept? Other dept? Pay raise/cut?

I too was told my position was being eliminated due to lack of work. I could go to CST or leave with NO PACKAGE. I had no choice but to say yes. That was two months ago and not another word. I am not about to ask, Maybe it was just a test to see what i would say or they are hoping we just flat quit.
1st I have heard
We are swamped with work and doing ethernet installs as fast as they can be engineered and spliced up. CPE is hot and miss, sometimes we have several in a week and sometimes none for a while. Best of luck either way.
I am a former BST, now National Field Ops Tech 2. We were quietly moved last year. Then we were told what a great opportunity it was and all the work we would be doing. Big surprise here, never happened. Unless you count carrying 60lb batteries up 4 and 5 flights of stairs.
And yes, i was told nearly 2 months ago my position was eliminated and not to speak of it to anyone. And then, nothing more was said. Oh....and NO package.
My group has been told numerous times in the last year we would be moved under a different manager, different organization, only for it to never happen. It’s stress- and anxiety-inducing because anything could happen at any given moment. Not a BST, but i think this is happening all over.
Business Service Technician.
What's a BST?
This is why we organized a union, so they didn’t jack you around...
