Spoke to my District manager who is retiring soon so is a little more forthcoming. By end of this year nearly half of our staff will be eliminated. Those that remain will be expected to move between departments, no more assigned departments. Some sort of employee tracking and productivity system is being installed to monitor employees and make sure they are always working. All breaks will be assigned by management. DM said corporate believes they can always find someone who needs a job and will be happy to take whatever they are given. Told me he's glad he is getting out now.

You guys are out of your minds. Paranoia abounds!! I live and work by a couple simple rules: I am as fast as I am free, and don’t complain about things you don’t have solutions to/are willing to help fix. If you feel like you are working harder than you are being paid for, that’s your own fault. Talk to your supervisor candidly and respectfully. I promise, if you take it UP the chain, ONE step at a time (ie, if your boss doesn’t like what you have to say, then go to their boss, then the next, etc) instead of coming on some forum and complaining and being fearful about dumb rumors, you will experience growth beyond anything you’d expect at the dang depot. Y’all need to chill. This is a good company, they take care of us. There are some jerks and big egos (welcome to earth), and there are policies and anonymous hotlines for that nonsense. Chill. And keep it moving.
Marvin Ellison is coming back to hd after he finishes destroying lowes, sometimes you just have to laugh as your house is burning down around you
I just stopped showing up for work yesterday. Found a job at McDonalds paying $3 more an hour. The pay at Homedepot is piss poor and they expect you to work yourself to death for it.
The company is moving to an online only sales presence which is scheduled to be completed by 2022. They believe that they can have same day delivery on products with the distribution centers(they have and more coming) and the distribution network they are currently in the planning stages with. The loss in sales is expected to be small and with the massive reduction in payroll, lease expenses, utilities ETC. that comes from operating a brick and mortar business the Senior Executives have a stock price target of $450 a share by 2024.
Sounds like Lowe's home improvement.wow lots of similar situations.
Maybe they'll get rid of some ASM's as well then....high dollar help that in most cases don't give two sh–s about anything but themselves
Most of the people who work here don't even know anything about the products they sell in their department. If they try to get me to work in another department I'm going to play dumb and make the customers go find a manager to help them. I don't know anything, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Yeah half the time at Home depot its hard to find a worker. and some of them seem like you are bothering them with a question about where a product is. MAybe this will improve customer service.
I don't get paid enough as it is. I'll find a new job by the end of the week and just stop showing up.
