Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Employee discount coming back 8/15

Wow a whole 5% in hardline and 10% is soft lines. So generous. Almost makes up for not getting a raise for the past 9 years.

This shows you how desperate Sears is to survive. Back in the days a lot of my co workers would spend their pay check when we still had our discount. Sears decided to axe that out and our sales really hurt. Majority of the store stopped buying. It was a big slap on the face if you ask me. It was embarrassing when people asked me what was your discount working at Sears and I would say I don't have a discount we get points.

@10jDsDlg-3jxy it’s simple, if you don’t like the discount, then don’t use it.

Find something else to complain about

No one said I make 7.25. I am a sgm and make 6 figures. And I am only still here because I basically have unlimited vacation and only work about 30 hours a week.

I call BS on this, ANY SGM making 6 figures was let go years ago, Your in the MID 5 figures, and yeah I would agree most of you SGM's only work about 30 hours a week. The other 15 are spent being A holes to your workers.. If you want 6 figures you'd be at a wally world.

Who is still getting freecash offers? They’ve almost totally dried up and don’t look to be coming back in any meaningful way. Points handouts as a whole have been drastically reduced to increase margin.

Has no one noticed that they set it up to work as a coupon? So we get a measly 5 percent off in hardlines as well as the 10 percent back in points, but in exchange for that percent off, we lose the ability to stack with other coupons and free cash in points offers. This isn't a great new associate discount plan catered to answer associate concerns... It's another way to take more away from us.

Spend 100 and get $5 off and $10 back in points on the new plan. so $15 per $100. No coupons no free cash in points.

Under our current plan. If you have a free cash in points where you get $20 off 100, you won't be able to use it. Since you are an associate, you have to take the $5 off and $10 in points on a future purchase. It is automatic. There is no way to choose which one you want.

It doesn't pay to be an associate on SYW. Just be a regular customer. You get more in points, and get free cash. You come out ahead.

What’s the point? There isn’t anything to buy. And these points offers they’re running are ridiculous. $100 in points over 52 weeks that expire every two hours. Lol. Customers, vendors and employees think the points program is a joke. Eddie and his girlfriend Leena hitting the gas pedal as the car is going off the cliff.

Bought two things came out a little over 300 total both on 991 and it gave me the 15 a week for 20 weeks during that promotion

Those promos have the same exclusions. Clearance stuff of any variety doesn’t get anything other than 1% back if that. Most if not all of these spend and get offers specifically exclude clearance merch.

No but if you get enough to qualify for the promotions spend 150 get 150 or 300 get 300 you can do pretty good, I have a feeling they are going to stop those promotions though they ended the last one early they're giving away alot of points if people take advantage of it

If memory serves, you don’t get points on clearance, 991 or VOM with the associate points rebate.

I shop there on the clock all the time ...can't beat the deals especially on closeout and VOM merchandise that just sits there till it's almost 90% off because we have no foot traffic, then to top it off you basically get whatever you spent back in points, could start your own store with all the stuff they give away practically

@2cod. Well I see the Sears cheerleaders and rah rah's are back. Incidently, It's just the opposite. Eddie is setting up the smaller stores to encourage people to order online

@2znj it’s not going to liquidate. The goal is to eliminate the big box stores and shuffle to smaller lower staffed stores with stuff people typically don’t buy online. He kept a bankrupt retailer out of bankruptcy for like 7 years. He now has a clean balance sheet. He is going to try and get this to an IPO because when he IPOs it he’s gonna make millions of $. Expect slow and methodical downsizing of the big box stores, more home and life, and some hometown and outlet stores converted to home and life.

Can this discount be combined with the liquidation discounts when this company is eventually folded as a result of Eddie dragging his tiny balls all over the it?

On Friends and Family nights, employees and former employees are the ONLY ones who shop.😆

No need to even bother giving the discount to retirees, especially after the $135 average payout on insurance policies.

I quit shopping there when I still worked with the company
they don’t have anything anymore that I need that I can’t get elsewhere for less even with an associate discount.

What a joke and an insult. The employee discount needs to be 20% across the board.

Federal minimum wage in 2010 was $7.25. you’re still making $7.25 ( 9 years later) and continue working for Sears? You must really have great parents to allow you to continue to live at home for free.
