Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Loyal associates..

Loyal associates that have been there, learning the ins and outs of the company, dealing with all of the b.s. that comes through the company.. we all get screwed once again. I'm usually not the type to complain about other peoples paychecks, but why should I go the extra step and train a new person that will be making the same exact an hour as me if not more when I've been through everything with this company? How is that fair to me? How is that fair to you?

In regards to the PTO question. I recently retired. You will ONLY get PTO. If you have PERSONAL time in the "bucket" you WILL NOT GET PAID for it. Human Resources told me I would get paid when I called a month before I retired. When it didn't show on my last paycheck I called again. Got the usual run around and was told "Policies changed. If you quit or retire you don't get what's in the reserve bucket." USE UP ALL OF YOUR BUILT UP TIME IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE LONG TIME ASSOCIATES!!!!!!!!!!!
What the company stole from me equals over FIVE THOUSAND dollars! $1,651.00 for personal and $3,446.00 for sick time. As someone stated before, you are just a number. The ONLY thing I regret about retiring is that I didn't QUIT sooner and I didn't put in for time off every chance I got!

Does anyone know how to find out what the levels are now and the pay grades?

I know how you feel.. I was a level 5 club pick up associate and went down to a level three choosing to work over nights . I was told the cut was due to the fact that I do not deal with members .. they took $1.30 from me . Now that there is no night shift I was told when I asked I would not get that money back even though I’m doing the exact same thing I did before .. I was told I’m now a merchandiser and we pull orders but do not dispense them.. funny part is only two of us merchandisers pull orders and no one else does .. this seems unethical to me .. his can they take your money and put you back doing the same exact thing without giving it back.. may be time to see an attorney

Easter bunny. Santa Claus. Unicorns. Leprechauns. Loyal Sam's Club associates after the recent purges.

All mythical creatures.

After all, why would anybody be stupid enough to remain loyal to a company that has so obviously chosen to abandon any appearances of ever returning that loyalty?

There are two ways to improve your income. First, is to move up the ladder and become a manager. Second, would be to take your experience and find a new company that will pay you more.
If those two options don’t work for you, then you care choosing keep your income at it’s current level.

Your attitude is similar to the one that burger flippers don’t deserve $15. It’s so disappointing to see us people at the bottom of the totem pole angry that others like us, want to make a liveable wage. Even if I made $27/hr and they hired a new person at $27/hr, I wouldn’t care because I’m still getting paid a decent wage.

So, instead of training people, which would make your job easier, since more people would know how to do it. You would rather despise them and make everyone’s jobs harder. Not very logical.

By now, there should be no loyal associates remaining. They have all been either terminated or displaced. Any former loyal associates who happen to still be on the payroll are either stuck here due to personal circumstances or they are actively seeking other employment, but they can no longer be accurately classified as "loyal associates". They've seen too much.

This is the same thing they do to members. Those that have been loyal members for years get a few instance savings coupons but new get $20 gift cared and a lot of free items.

If you quit and just walk out does your PTO and PPTO get paid out automatically?

You are 100% correct. I feel exactly the same way. We have brand new associates getting hired off the street and they are STARTING out at more than what I make after 16 years!!! It's all B.S. And yes, we are not human beings with lives and families, we are just a number and all of us numbers are expendable. Shame on you Sams Club for not remaining loyal to your long termers.

I agree, absolutely.
But you must remember that you are JUST A NUMBER to them. All that the company looks at, is your employment I.D#.
They do not care about your name, effort, or experience. You are just a number.
Your personal knowledge, experience, willingness to give your best.... It makes no difference to the bottom line.
If you exceed at assigned tasks, they will see you only as a tool, to use to their benefit. And they will use you, until you break.
There is no longer any reward, incentive, or even a sense of pride, in giving your all for Sam's Club.
You are just a number....
17yr associate.. will not be an 18yr associate.
(( I quit today, walked-out, no regrets))
I am no longer a number.

It's not fair, you're absolutely right. But there is nothing we can do but leave or deal with it. Even so it is shameful to treat your long term associates like this.
