For anyone that was lay-off from Big Lots on Monday 7/29/2019 what was the reason given?
Kinda a childish move to talk over the phone instead of talking face to face about being let go. Thanks for all you do for Jennifer but you didn’t do enough

It was DTL choice. I was an external STL, i was laid off, same bs, position eliminated then given to atlm. Other external STLS not laid off. Who cares, life is better without this terrible work place. Nothing but respect for the people left that work their tails off for Big Lots, so unapperciated and not valued. Leave, you will be superstars elsewhere!!!
it had to be DT:preferemce. i was na external hire, externals usualluy get paid more, i was replaced by an internal promotion. Internal promotions alwasy get paid less. This is common in all companies.
For those who were laid off during this last round on 07/29/19 I am seeking legal action so please feel free to comment and possibly a class action law suit
So sad! I was lucky enough to keep my position, but I’m disgusted at how they handled it. It’s not restructuring, it’s a new ceo that needs to look good to the shareholders. If a cut back is needed, stop bonuses, fire the ppl in marketing that can’t get signage done right the first time, stick to the return policy instead of honoring bs returns, stop OT for Atl’s temporarily. I could keep going on and on.
I wish the best for my fellow BL peers.
I feel the same way.. It happened to me. I was with the company for 6yrs. We had just bought a house last year. They had called at the store and did it over the phone... Unbelievable.
I was told due to restructuring. But it's not a restructure if you are replacing me. O just returned on vacation that Monday at 7am. By 830 I was terminated and in tears. Mr DTL promoted my assistant manager who claimed he never wanted the store anyway. I think that Big Lots is preparing to sell. Only my opinion.
Tim Johnson is leaving the company too.
Just wow!
That my ATLM position was eliminated.I feel that my DTL did have a say in it.We worked our butts off, but honestly, the store I was in has been on a slow decline.I came on two years ago from a different store,I was told then by my DTL,(who was no longer) my DTL that the ATLM at tge the time couldn't handle it.I guess the new one thought the opposite.I just know that we were barely over 3 million. The building itself is horrible, old, outdated and numerous health code violations.I just hope the ones left are going to make it, the store,in my opinion, will be closed within the next 2-3 years,if that.
Reason wasn’t given as to how they chosed who went and who stayed. It appears they went off of the DTLs preference as to if they liked you or not.
