Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Hired 6/07/19 as a FSA

Left a job to go work at Lowes, during interview told about the team and how your treated like family and about quality of life is important.

Wed. 7/31/19 I was laid off, my health benefits were to start 8/1/19 and today 8/02/19 I'm turning 62.

They didn't know this job was going away when they hired me ??
This is how they treat people.

What the fk koolaid are you drinking? You got to be some millennial. Some one up top feeding you BS and you soaking it up like a child. To be successful you need to change but that doesn't mean eliminating jobs. Do you know the old saying. You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar?? If you treat people with respect they will want to take of customers. If people who work for you fear they are next how willing are they to give the best they can?? If people don't feel valued they "LEAVE". You can't make a team when you put fear in everyone. So stop thinking like a robot and start thinking like a human. This is why every change Lowe's does it gets worse and worse because they don't respect their people and they only care about stock value.

Ha. they deleted my comment, of course they knew. I knew this was going down more than 6 months ago from online discussion boards. BOYCOTT LOWES! tell your friends, tell your neighbor's, tell your relatives, tell everyone you meet, what they did to you. This is not the first time they did this to people, use and abuse.

At a store level they didnt know... market directors knew and it's how lowes operates... I left the company just recently due to the fact they treat people like pawns...As a manager I tried to protect those under me but its tough... I am embarrassed that I used to love the company and its values...now they aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

To answer the previous question..... No, I no longer want to see Lowe's succeed. I also will not leave. I will continue to clock in every morning, smile, joke, but I will not go even slightly out of my way to help them anymore.

Productive to the customer !!! In the last to months I can't tell you how many times I have stopped what I was doing to help customers. Just because I wore a tan vest doesn't mean I didn't help customers. It's the customer that makes paydays happen. And it's the front line Employees that make customer service happen

"Success" achieved via lies, deceit, abuse and other treachery is not success.

Does anyone here want Lowe’s to be successful? In order to be successful companies must change and be competitive. That’s just the truth. We cannot continue to run positions that no other retailers have that are not productive for the customer. These decisions are hard but I am confident that Marvin and the leadership are doing what they feel is best for the company.

theres a new post on reddit too. guy was asking for advice on whether he actually had a job. he had been interviewed for and received a job offer. had just completed background check and given a start date. unless that store manager is incredibly sadistic corporate did this out of pure pleasure and the stores where so in the dark about just when these positions were eliminated that people were literally being on-boarded the day they were eliminated!

there needs to be a federal law against corporations engaging in bad faith hiring practices! if a job is eliminated within so many weeks or months of you taking it, it should automatically entitle you to a certain number of months payout. you take these jobs believing if you do it well theres no telling how many years you should maintain the job. you give up what could be a solid job to take a new job. this stuff completely disrupts your life and career. its past time that corporations should have to pay for their sins. this person should be entitled to, bare minimum, 6 months pay. We need a law that makes corporations think twice before they fill positions they know theyre eliminating!!! since human decency doesnt speak to them, maybe a hit to the bottom line will.

Do you have a local news story that does investigation pieces? You should call them and explain your situation. They knew this was going away.

Many, at most levels and all managers, knew the FSA position was being phased-out; nobody but higher-ups at Corporate knew anything about Marvelous Marvin's plan to not offer any type of transition. Only that evil S.O.B. Marvelous Marvin Ellison and his tight core crew knew about their plan to offer no notice, immediate termination, no transition to another position like the Internet Order Pick-Up Desk crew got transitioned (demoted with loss of M-F set schedule, possibly even more evil than straight termination) to Customer Service; and only two weeks pay. The District-level, Store-level and probably even the Regional-level managers didn't know anything. Evil, just evil.
