Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

When will the next layoffs be?

Any date and factual info on when and who next? S—s working at a place that makes you feel like you are in the holocost and you do not know when you will chosen next.

many have said "this is just business" and they exist to make money. yep, totally agree. what i dont agree with is how they lay off "positions" if it were truly a position layoff and not personal between corporate and the employee then give the employee a chance to move to an open position in the store before officially laid off!!!! obviously like with moving up....certain open positions may be moving down and paid accordingly....but at least give people the chance to CHOOSE and be EMPOWERED in these life changes! dont demoralize fellow humans. youd think a christian such as marvin would get that!

itd be so simple. store manager sits down with his ASM's and supervisor over fsa and assembler and says these are the open positions....discuss which ones you feel they are qualified for immediate transfer over to......you then bring in that person and say your job is being eliminated but as of today we can move you over to any of these positions with no interview needed. if you feel you are qualified for these other positions then take a day to think about it, prepare your resume and come back in tomorrow to interview for it and change our minds! of course if you refuse any of the new positions then you get laid off...but at least you had a chance to stay. the layoffs they do are so heartless and counterproductive.

Based on what seems to be a pattern regarding layoffs, I’d say the next round of layoffs - if there are more to come and there is seemingly always something brewing - may very well occur in January of 2020. Why? The end of Q4 and new fiscal year starts the first Saturday of February. That is also when major changes tend to occur. Think of the timelines regarding the layoffs of ASMs, Department Managers, LP Managers and the PSI program - all occurred late in Q4 just before the new fiscal year.

My local Labor Case-Worker was extremely helpful with me Friday. I was an FSA for over 10 years at my store and extremely proud of the job I did and all of my accomplishments; but I was frightened, dazed, confused and hadn't been unemployed in almost 30 years. The wonderful State Case-Worker heard the particulars of my layoff and started my paperwork. I explained that I was hesitant to go through with any claims because my store wanted me back so badly. My Case-Worker looked me straight in the eyes and said: "If they had wanted you you would not be here right now." The tone of caring and compassion for me and disgust for Lowe's was priceless. My first claim for unemployment benefits is submitted to complete some sort mandatory waiting-period. Now that I know that karma and my State are opening doors I think I'll start feeling very excited about the future. Friends, family and inter-web have all kinds of advice from: "Relax and enjoy some time off." To: "Get those resumes out as fast as possible." Still a bit shocked so I'll just keep doing what I think is best for me and maybe have a little fun.

That's what I want to know. I work in the cash office. I have this pit in my stomach full of dread. I keep thinking they will change the job, lay us all off and open the job up so you have to re apply. Maybe you get your job back maybe you dont.
I love my job, the people I work with are like extended family. I dont like going to work any more. Knowing I am not valued by the company i work for.
