Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

When is it happening? (The Sequel)

My sources are still telling me this week! Any other rumors out there? Strange Supervisor travel plans? Odd conference room bookings? Keep your head on a swivel! If you haven’t cleared your workspace of personal items, now is the the time. Don’t delay. Good luck everyone, and feel free to share your personal insights, tips and/or tricks here for the benefit of everyone!

If they layoff less than 33%, then the WARN Act does not apply. If they layoff more than 33% without advanced notice, they will have to give you the 60 days of pay and keep you "employed" for that time period like they did in 2016. Maybe they are just planning on cutting severance by a large amount or altogether and just giving everyone the 60 days?

They will do like they did in 2016. Standard stuff as a work around on your point. So happy layoff eve!!

Legally if big layoff is planned MUST DISCLOSE IN FILINGS. NOTHING in filings, analyst call, slides. Rumors and silliness on this site just ridiculous and not helpful.

Hey fellow employees. Come on have you not figured out the our CEO uses big vocab words that someone hands him to make him sound smart. Operational efficiencies is his code word for layoffs. Come on people. So layoffs this week. Best luck to all minus the 300 being laid off for operational efficiencies!

Where in today's press release did you see stated workforce reduction?

Looks like based on press release today we will see on 8/8 a Reduction In Force aka layoff of 300 employees. Say no WAY! Hope some high dollar senior leaders are “retired” like us working folk. Can’t believe I made it thru 3 layoffs with WAY and now I am on my WAY to keeping my job. So long the rest of you 300 coworkers. Go Team SWN!

Hopefully, they fire 300 people. I hate to see people lose jobs, but we need to cut a lot of overhead and the easiest is head count to start. I am confident that I will keep my job. We need to get very lean and keep the elite elite to ride out the low natural gas prices which will be the norm moving forward.

Good luck to my fellow coworkers especially those in the spring office with me. I did back up all of my personal files just in case though.

Tips and tricks-
Backup your files quick!
Clean up your desk of personal stuff!

Once they let you go, you can’t get your stuff. They will ship it to you. No more trust for sure. You give them your work, your life, your time.... they give you insecurity, headaches. Meanwhile, all at the top are going whew...... where to go eat now.

Are the layoffs going to be 300 people like I seen on this board. One word WOW

Looking at pure play Marcellus competitors number of employees like Antero Resources & Cabot Oil and Gas would seem we have about 300 more in head count.

No. We are going to go on a buying spree. Heck maybe even overpay for something. Seems like WJW is great at doing that at a time when our company needs to do it most. Heck. Maybe even pay some of his strategic cohorts a 1MM bonus just cuz. He likes to play the “money man”!

Yeah. Call in sick and miss all of the action! Any way you put it, Thursday is going to be tough. Make sure your personal stuff is ready if needed, backup personal files on your computer if you have any. Remember, they only care about themselves!

From an earlier post. A person gets denied vacation this week. Two conference rooms. Layoffs or buyout Let’s do a poll of the hundreds of people that read these posts. Just reply YES to layoffs and NO to buyout

Took the advice of someone. Put in for vacation this Thursday and Friday. Denied by supervisor. Can layoffs really happen like this. I am the only one going to a separate conference room on Thursday than my co-workers. What does that mean?? I think I am safe and rest will be given pink slip!

Don’t use your vacation time. Tell them you’re sick if you need some time off. They’ll pay you for all accrued vacation hours when they send you on your permanent vacation, but not sick hours. And don’t feel guilty for doing it. Way and Co. have done far worse and earn far more than you.

Wondering if they’re implementing a new tactic for layoffs? I’ve heard about other companies doing this, and Whiting Petroleum did this last week. You’ll get a meeting invite to one of two large conference rooms. One is a “safe room” (for all those not getting laid off and one is, well... you get the picture. Now that our overall numbers in Spring are smaller than previous years, it is more efficient to do this way. It will all be over in 15 - 30 minutes and the “safe” ones will be back to work by 9am.

This is odd. Was talking with a co-worker and she has a “meeting” (we know this is about layoffs) same time and date (8/8) as me but different conference rooms. We are now wondering if only one of us will be laid off and the other will not be laid off.

Love how the OP paid homage to the original “When is it happening?” post, which is an all time great and in the Layoff dot com hall of fame. That one foreshadowed the June 2018 lay-off. This one should do the same. 🍿
