Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Broken contract

Meeting with our attorney next week to look over my paperwork stating I would be be receiving my allowance (for them taking away such a huge chunk of my pay) as long as I was employed and did not go salary. Here's hoping you do the same.

Oh yes everything Lowe's does is totally legal which is why we settle out of court with so many lawsuits and try and pay off people who could sue before they do. Hmmmm like our guy that repeatedly passed out at work but they told him he was fine until about the 5th time when they allowed him to drive himself home, thankfully someone else got him to a hospital, he received a call and a check to pretend it was ok and he was fired.....all for being worked despite his having small heart attacks during his shift. They will happily work you to death

All offer letters and contracts at Lowe’s have a legal section that says it can change anything at the companies discretion. So you are wasting your time it’s not going to hold up in court . Sorry

That attorney only cares about his cut of your spiff money you already made to pay him. You will lose . find another job or try not to live beyond your means.

That’s right, sue when they take your trophy away that you haven’t earned in some many years since. How do I get on that gravy train? Almost like a congressional position. Do it for a year get paid for life? Lol

Not saying that what Lowe’s is doing on this is right, but it is legal. They wouldn’t have done this without vetting it first with the legal dept.

Hate to break it to you but Lowe’s is not legally required to keep ‘promises’—Only the top executives have iron clad contracts that have to be honored. On top of that, Lowe’s has a whole army of lawyers at their disposal in their legal dept. On this issue you are wasting your time.

really wish someone would post an image of this paperwork that everyone talks about. i have a feeling its far from being a contract in the eyes of the law. theres probably some vague language in it and probably comes off like an offered benefit and not a binding signed agreement that had to be opted into.

lowes loses lawsuits all the fricken time. really is unreal how often they get sued and lose.....but i have to believe they had their lawyers look over this and got the green light that theyd win this thing easily. otherwise, how stupid do you gotta be?? you'd know a lawsuit was coming when you did this.

companies change benefits all the time and its their prerogative to do so. what i also wonder is was their a signed contract at time of hire where these spiffs were a legally binding part of your pay, and that they actually legally screwed you over when you quietly accepted going to an allowance that was no longer legally binding. thats the real fishy part for me....back in 2011 they obviously knew ending that spiff/commission was problematic for them so they needed some way to get everyone to accept it and move on.

either way that allowance was stupid on their part. no stipulation that you couldnt just drop down to part time somewhere down the road...maintain minimal employment and make bank on that allowance. thats why i believe theres more to this paper and would love to read it myself. either way i assume if you dont go along with it youll have a target on your back and theyll just remove you from your employment.

Entitlement? No, a promise was made at the time that the pay cut (spiffs) was made. Now they are changing the game again. Both times the experienced employee gets the short end of the stick.
This will cause loss of sales due to lost employees that know the product but its all good because a part timer can step in and screw up that SOS and end up in a refund with SOS product sold at a loss.

Employees lost twice, now its the company's turn. Lost business and lost customers.
