Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Plans for AIG

The plan is to do away with as much jobs in NJ and NY as possible. That's what is being discussed. Yes, McKinsey is here to RIF and make recommendations how to do more with less. Yet they haven't made any recommendations on all the new Senior Management hires that happen almost on a weekly, if not monthly basis. Mckinsey isn't doing their jobs because they should be transparent and let Senior Management know that these Senior Management new hires are not necessary and are further bleeding the company and driving up costs. It's not good for the company's goal of reducing General Operating Expense. McKinsey has an in with Senior Management and that is why there is duplication of recommendations on how to transform and align the company while cutting cost.

Yes there are some nasty Managers out there that really treat their employees with disrespect. I have been in the present when a Manager has made rude comments in front of her staff and Claims Managers. I think it's rude and I really think that this is something that needs to be corrected and it really should be reported to HR. However, employees are afraid of the back lash and reporting such actions to HR. There should be a way to report this and it be investigated without backlash from the Manager

We all should get laid off anyway. I know for a fact my job could be completely automated...idk about anyone else here but I have not once went home after a day of work here and actually felt good about the work I did. Yeah my "productivity score" may be high but, in the end, only stupid people think that means anything. In the end, the majority of us are doing b—s— monkey work while the rest of the working world are actually learning new things on the job to grow their careers. As for AIG, esp NJ Ops, we're eating sh– while having our progression stonewalled by bored, dusty-a– managers who will probably be void of any relevent skills once they eventually get laid off also.

If you can afford to wait for a package and retire, ride it out. If not, get out while you can....

I saw in a recent email that we are hiring in NC and TX. Some cloud functions and other misc positions. What do you make of this? I am seeing the layoffs first hand and I suspect more is coming. I am just not clear why if we are off-shoring and laying off, we are hiring in the US for these positions?

I agreed with above statement. Their goal all along has been to reduce the size of the work force in New York and New Jersey. At the end of the day, the only area’s that will stay in the Tri- State will be the Profit Centers. Everyone else will screwed
