What will happen to unvested RSU!

Does anyone know here what Broadcom will offer for unvested RSU stock? When we will get to know about it?

And even if you were given a role, without the golden handcuffs, why stay? There are too many jobs out there with great cultures and an opportunity to make a lot of money.

I am in a role that most likely won’t be given a Broadcom offer. It looks like our options won’t vest. I’ve been with the company for 2 years so my severance will be minimal . Am I thinking about this correctly? Why stick around? And certainly there are others in the same boat. I think there’s going to be a mass exodus.

My unvested CA RSU’s converted to Broadcom RSU and vested on the same schedule as CA.

They are gone, forget about them. Those that think there will be a conversion or somehow broadcom will make you whole are dreaming.

Broadcom will make you their standard offer for someone at your level. Which may be quite good, but won't factor in anything about your existing unvested RSUs.

No such thing as option 3

The FAQ makes it clear that all unvested RSUs are forfeited when the deal closes and employees from the Enterprise Business Unit are let go. Whether Broadcom chooses to give RSUs to new EMM,obese as an incentive to stay is an entirely different matter and I doubt that any grants of RSUs by Broadcom will be dependent on the value of any RSUs currently held.

If this had been an acquisition rather than an asset sale, the normal practice is to convert the RSUs to RSUs from the acquiring company. That’s not the case here. Broadcom is not buying Symantec and is not assuming Symantec’s liabilities.

Please note, however, that it is extremely likely that the voting date of any RSUs held by executives will be accelerated so that they will receive all of the stock associated with their unvested RSYs when the deal closes. That is typically how things work in these situations. The executives make out like bandits and the rank and file employees get screwed.

From what I see, there are three options

  1. You get laid off before Broadcom buys Symantec - you lose all unvested stock
  2. You move to Broadcom and your Symantec shares get converted into Broadcom shares (not 1:1 but in current monetary value)
  3. You get laid off under Broadcom and if you are extremely(!) lucky Broadcom accelerates the vesting of shares so you can take that money home

It's option 1 for me.
