Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

Performance rating season

Managers are finishing their performance rating and providing 60-90 day "improve or be laid off" plans. Ive heard about 8% will get that rating, but no severance this time if they dont make it. Apply elsewhere and believe things can get better, outside the toxic environment this has created.

The performance review is being used as a Weapon to reduce workforce. Your performance may have been stellar, but if you are identified as someone whose position can be replaced by a cheaper worker or they can do without by passing the workload to an already overburdened employer or if someone dislikes you, your manager working in collusion with senior management will deliberately give you a lower rating with the intention of terminating you. At the end of an improvement plan, no matter your achievements, you will be terminated. This has been happening for a long time. The class action suit in Idaho is based on the same practices. The strategy saves them severance, bonuses, circumventing federal reporting requirements and staying below wall street’s radar so that they can keep acting as cheerleaders for the stick. No respectable company conducts itself in this manner. Believe little that they push out as rhetoric. Shameful! The next class action lawsuit will follow them.

I have seen things you people would not believe. Chipping out the exhaust of pumps into my APR to get them running to make Q time. B-52 CS scrubber explode in front of me and fill my lungs with HBR gas. I have seen friends covered in tungsten sludge from Masonix scrubbers. I have s—ed in vapors from exhaust and chambers from E5 enablers and Opus 5 chamber tools. Speaking from experience...if you do not want to leave the valley, I recommend staying out at micron and putting up with the BS as there are not many options in or around Boise. If jumping from job to job for a few years is what you want than leave. That is unless you want to go back to school and change your trade.

The jobs are rough around here and hard to come by...

Micron needs to make a decision. Are you an American company that can pay American wages... As an American who worked for that company who left. After working there for nine years chasing $30/ hour I quit. Now I make $33.20/ hour with a much smaller achievable work load. I work in an area with %40 lower cost of living and make much more money. It is time to quit. Any company in this economy that is trying to threaten employees with lay offs will not get any American employees. Micron is a sweatshop... A racist sweatshop...
