Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Sales Reps

What are your thoughts on the direction of this company? Seems very few comment here. We all know you are being paid well right now, but you must know with the direction of the company you are working on borrowed time. Where do you see this in 12, 24 and 36 months?

The level of new sales rep quality has hit all time low. The smart ones have already left.

1wuw: send a throwaway email onto this thread. I will provide you plenty of material to inform your investing decisions. But know that a large percentage of what you are reading on here is accurate, particularly the comments around innovation and growth.

I’m not a Xerox employee, but rather an institutional investor. Reading these blogs is sickening.

There is nothing to see here folks. This is no tech powerhouse. The technology is c-ap and obsolete. It shoots paper out of one end of a machine, that’s it. Welcome to the 80s.
Anyone saying they have great “product” or “sales” abilities is living in some delusion from the past.

ole admin,
you hit the nail on the head, I am not bragging but I excel at my job and SO many sales reps rely on my skills and speed to which I get things done, I have busted my a– for them and get my normal pay while seeing the commissions they make on everyone else picking up on their slack, they totally take for granted all who make their deals happen and they are in for a rude awakening because I know first hand the sh– storm that is coming, I'm ready to leave but I am so going to enjoy the show before I do!

I suspect sales will plummet in the GIS sector once HCL is fully in charge of the back admin. Our customers already see a difference with the people gone and the ones left not really caring wholeheartedly. And the mergers. Imagine how it will be when it takes months to get a meter billing corrected and that’s after they get a translator to help them communicate with the offshore people. I know most cores have always sold themselves as being local and getting someone local on the line when the customer has a billing issue. That’s a good part of what made GIS successful. Think about all of the longtime knowledge that has walked out the door and all the knowledge in the works of leaving. That knowledge has been what props sales up. Because if you can’t back what you are selling, who is going to continue to buy from you.
Imagine, if you will, you land a decent sized deal, lure them with all the bells and whistles of specialized this and that, now empty promises, lock them in for 36-48 months and then your ‘support’ fails to deliver on those promises. Is that customer going to repeat that decision come end of term? Or are they going to listen to the other guy and go with them because of the lack of support they will continue to receive on something as simple as getting the right meter billed? I know HCL thinks they are going to automate this and have their people work from scripts, but there is so much ‘human’ that goes into taking good care of customers.
I am in no way wishing anything ill towards reps, I love the ones I work with, but at what point do you stop and allow yourself a realistic view of what is going to happen....what is already in the works of happening. Instead of buying into whatever BS spiked kool-aid you’re being offered in your sales meetings.
Just passing thoughts of an ole admin with 20+ years experience helping our local customers and keeping those promises sold to them.

To the Major Account Executive: it's not difficult the be a top producer when all of the real top producers have been leaving Xerox for the past two years. If you think that's an accomplishment then knock yourself out.

Xerox selling product is like Papercut which is like selling the rope they will hang themselves with. mo–ns. Terrible business model. Terrible sales people.

Clearly you are not in tune with the industry if you believe Xerox products are the best. Xerox devices are among the easiest to hack into within the industry, and that’s a Fact!

Major Account Executive Here. Having the best year of my career right now and I will make next year even better. That is the beauty of sales. You control your performance to a large extent. Certainly there will be some things I need to navigate through, but that is the case anywhere. The Xerox product line is the best in the industry, that’s not my opinion, it’s a fact. It’s been tough seeing people I’ve worked with for many years in admin (my work family) go through the HCL nonsense. I’ve continued, and will continue to set record sales numbers to support my family at home.
