Not moving to Energy Corridor... Move to Woodlands instead?

Houston-based Occidental Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: OXY) reportedly won't be moving to the Energy Corridor after all.

According to real estate industry publication Realty News Report, CFO Cedric Burgher said the company will sell the campus it recently acquired in the Energy Corridor and retain Anadarko Petroleum Corp.'s headquarters in The Woodlands. Burgher was speaking at an energy conference in Denver, according to RNR. However, it is unclear whether he made the remarks during his keynote address at EnerCom this week or in an individual interview at the conference.

@1yus. Who cares what legacy Oxy employees want. It’s cheaper to have attrition from legacy employees and the execs prefer the Woodlands office to the greenway dump. They’ll leave greenway. Will it be Woodlands or will they buy something new? Kind of a no brainer.

Word on street is they like the APC Corp jets...

Uhh yeah it will continue to be about OXY, they are the buying company. Why displace your entire staff to occupy a woodlands office that 85% of the legacy employees do not want to move into?

I will go wherever they want me to if I can keep my job and stay working. The industry keeps getting smaller and if you are in a technical field things could be pretty tough when it comes to finding another job. Oxy has been a great place to work and I just hope it stays that way. I also hope the people that want to stay get the opportunity and we can all see this thing through.

They showed us that there's also room in The Woodlands to build more buildings if needed. I've been very impressed, the Woodlands is so much nicer and more attractive than that hole at Greenway, and we all know about the traffic getting to Greenway for anyone not in Midtown. Also remember, there was a reason we were trying to leave Greenway originally. But who are we kidding, logic won't be used in making the decision. It'll be based on VH and the exec's commutes to work, or something like that. Whichever is closer is the way they'll go. This has and will continue to be all about them.

It doesn't NOT say that either... It says that the Woodlands office isn't big enough for the CURRENT company and that it will take YEARS to decide... Read between the lines and once the overlapping headcount is reduced, they will reevaluate. Maybe after downsizing, the office in the woodlands will be big enough... Only time will tell.
