That’s what I did. As soon as they eliminated my dept mgr position, I left the company within 6 mos. and got out of big box retail altogether. I had no desire to move up the food chain to ASM and give up a comfortable work/life balance. It all depends on what you want.
yes, I was a dept mgr for 24 years. I never had the desire to go any higher because I saw how many hours ASM’s worked and never wanted to make that kind of commitment because work/life balance is important to me. But hey believe what you want.

Same here, I made more before Lowe’s, then the economy changed and I ended up in retail. It wasn’t bad at first, but work/life balance stunk. I was asked if I wanted to be an ASM, I said, “you can’t afford me.” My store manager asked how much I wanted. I said 85k base like at my old job. He said no, I said I’m good at Department Manager. When they restructured, I left. Now I make $108k plus bonus. No weekends, holidays or nights. I’m not in retail. I’m in mortgage lending.

theres a corporate guy that routinely post on the controversial post on facebook. he is always trying to be the "voice of reason". so its plausible that knowing theres extreme anger with the store employees that theyd start sending out people to social media to be the voice of reason, "explain" the decisions to us simple folk, try to sway public opinion etc. etc.
I don’t think a corporate monitor would post things. Mostly they would look and report things.
At my store I do know management reads the posts on here and on the reddit sub. They also read the old topix posts as well since they called out p–p toast and asked if anyone knew who he was.
