Thread regarding Symantec Corp. layoffs

What are the chances of Broadcom taking the "Email" product group as well?

Looks like this is still up in the air at this point, anyone can provide any possible additional insights?

Art made reference to SOC sites potentially being retained when asked about office closures, that implies they are at least assuming MSS will be retained. I'm assuming Email and MSS will be retained just because they're so big and have a lot of the key Broadcom top accounts. They aren't the top 3 products of most interest, but closing them almost immediately will be next to impossible due to their size, same goes for selling them off before close.

After looking last streams I will say 50/50. This is for sure important tech to have but not fit well into BC strategy. We will see in time

Email product and the weak level of support was never a good investment.
That is why the message was clear in the all hands. This Will go away for sure !

Nothing will stay , all they care about is the asset + sell = make profits.
You guys should consider look for a job.

Good Luck !

Is there any chance that they would try to sell off the email product? And if they do, wouldn't they need to keep the dev and support teams while they do this?

It's declining product. How many devs are on the product? Is there integration with 2 big products of Broadcom's interest?

Broadcom wants core devs. They donna wanna pay future severance and give relatively expensive seniority for non-core devs and everyone else. 75% of mid managers will go. For them it's easier to hire a new one then to take a dude with seniority for 5 years and pay severance for 15 years 60 months later

The truth is to update your resume and be realistic.

Fair question, is the cloud based email solution really a top end enterprise solution?

The mail gateway solution is certainly that and competes head to head with Cisco Ironport.

Email has been regarded for some time as the number one threat vector so seems odd to leave it behind. Perhaps the revenue is not good enough, who knows?
