Lockers

Do you have associates with multiple lockers at your store? We do at mine. Today when I arrived I found my stuff emptied from my locker and on the break room table. It had been picked through like the possessions of a fired associate. On my locker was a shiny new lock. I don’t have anything of value in my locker and only use a lock when my wallet and car keys are in there.

It turns out that my locker was taken over by the new appliances associate. She needs two lockers, one for her huge purse (big enough for a small dog to live in comfort) and the second all her snacks. I’m told that she has loaded up the freezer section of one of our refrigerators too.

When I approached a manager about this they were like “pick a new locker, what’s the problem!?”

HRM’s barely kept up with locker assignments every store I worked in—with them now gone, I’m guessing the whole thing with assigning and claiming lockers will get pretty chaotic.

So I was the eliminated hr manager in my store. I used to empty lockers too if stuff was in them and there was no lock and I did not have the occupants name in my locker log. I, however, made a clear policy of no locker squatters. I only had to clean out a few and that was during peak hiring. One person got upset one time but when I pointed to the policy and asked why he didn’t let me know. He had no response. It was fine. He reclaimed his extra locker after spring hire and I let him have it, as long as he let me know which one he was occupying.
