Hey OP. My office just got the email informing us that dispatch has gone to India. You knew 2 months beforehand. So....any new information on who’s next?
Most of this post is accurate, except for the part about “if you’re a costly employee that can be replaced by a 20 year old....”. I’ve been in those meetings, and the arbitrage conversations (swapping out highly compensated employees with new hires) are simply not a part of the calculation. Whether most (any?) long term employees choose to move to one of the these hubs is a legitimate question, particularly with a limited relo package, but the reality is, the company needs a mix of tenured and new employment in these hubs. Enough of the “they’re running off all the old expensive employees “ narrative. Just not true.
Before India expect massive office closures.

There’s your hubs and Allstate trying to play catch up with Sf and Geico but eliminating square footage. You’ll be terminated if your a costly employee to hire some kid from say ASU who doesn’t need medical at age 20.
Has this been communicated as a strategic plan? No— someone pointed out not going to happen because fear of staff bailing out l, real estate etc etc but read writing on wall for G sake and DONT count on getting your career planning from town halls.

Tommy and Glen have a plan that will have more layoffs and offshoring. Got to push up that end of year bonus! They had to wait out that period in the media of anti-offshoring before they could put their greed plans in action.
