Many rumors from Corporate that company wants to slim down cost dramatically. They will do this by letting third parties run and take responsibility and liabilities for all the coasters they want to build. Rides and Park Quality will be outsourced saving money on staff, benefits, labor, training, and the HR staff that runs those departments. It’s a win win as SeaWorld gets the rides but not the responsibilities or liabilities or pay for the labor to run them. Our corporate team is re vamping the business model as we are not like the other parks in Cali like Disney Land and Universal. Our competition is Six Flags and other local parks.
Cutting of Park Operations nation wide will pave the way for them to increase the hourly wage so they can pay staff a competitive wage like Disney and Universal. This plan will save the company. They want you on there payroll if you are making them profit.
Culinary and Merchandise, keep on making money. Park Operations, keep on cutting your teams labor as soon you will be cut too.

Do you think guests come to our parks for the food?? Without the rides you wouldn’t have a job. Period
Maintenance was brought in-house because it’s CHEAPER than contracting them. Union wages are much higher than in-house wages.
You can outsource maintenance.....BGT did it for decades. Low cost and it provided a buffer for liability.
PS.....moral was always in the c-apper.

Theme parks should work together all departments, not be segmented between those who make money and those who don't. For example.. you being in culinary. Great, you make sales. Now are you going to make sales without IT to run your registers or PE to give you power and water? No you arent. Those departments also don't make direct sales but they enable you to do so.
Hell by that logic, they should have kept the call center because they make sales too, but hey they can make it cheaper by outsourcing it. By your tag line of "make seaworld great again" makes me think you are a foolish supporter of a certain person, yet that person wants to put america first, and what just happened? 100 people lost their jobs to cheap labor.

I don’t think anyone mentioned maintenance. Only rides and quality who are not a skilled position. I think maintenance will always be in the parks. We can not run without you.
People that are employed in skilled trade positions and have special skills to keep the over all park running. They don't matter? What happens when your oven won't turn on? you call maintenance. What happens when a ride breaks down? you call maintenance. What happens when your kitchen door jams up or falls off? you call maintenance. Think about your selfish remark and then say that again.
Sacrificing a department to save the others is noble. I’m in food and beverage and I bring in profit that keeps the company going. I pay my own wage by making sales. All departments should too. I agree with this move when it happens. We need to slim down and show better returns so we can make SeaWorld great again.
I wouldn’t be surprised. This company is going to crash and burn unless they figure out out to oust you know who.
Nothing surprises me anymore. I do get your point and it would save the company much money. How did SeaWorld plan on giving a competitive wage with out more deep cuts.
Nothing would surprise me at this point. I see what you're getting at though, if you're not in a department that can make a daily deposit... then you better have a back up plan.
