Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

What would have made you stay?

Question for people who left Lowe's in the past several months on their own (and we know there are a lot of you lucky **.)

Was there anything that could have been done, any change in the way the stores are run or a change in the staff you work with that could have changed your mind about leaving?

I'm asking because somebody in another thread said they like their job again since their SM is gone, which makes me wonder if it is really that simple.

For my manager to value work life balance. As mentioned above managers not waiting till the last minute before I'm off to try to give me something to do that should have been communicated way earlier. It's just a sh–ty powerplay for insecure dimwits. Haven't left yet but if it continues I'm out.

Fixed opening, mid, or closing schedule (like a hospital). Eliminates clopens & allows a consistent time off for scheduling personal appointments.

More work/life balance and less management through fear and intimidation tactics from mostly young, relatively inexperienced in life, full of p*** and vinegar, mostly white, store managers that would sell their own mother to join the double digit comp club. Take care of your employees, and they will take care of your business.

To have been treated like an adult and with a little respect. I gave my two weeks notice on June 3, 2019 and just retired. From June 3 until my last day, no manager or supervisor would even look me in the eye. Respect is a two way street.

Management attitude,
Management procrastination,
Management blame, management lack of accountability, management laziness.

My last ASM was a lazy dude that hung out in departments talking with his buddies, Knowing he had work lists he’d wait till 15 minutes before the end of employees shifts to tell them what projects he needed accomplished before they go home. Example we need you to help electrical arrange their top stock, they don’t have anyone equipment certified. Do aisles x,y,z before you go home. When you’d say you are scheduled till 7 and it’s 6:30 he’d say get it done. I did, A couple times then when the trend continued, I gave my store manager my resignation. I got a job interview on my first attempt, got hired. I just feel sorry for the schmucks he manages now. Lowe’s promoted him to store manager.

I’m still with Lowe’s buy applying elsewhere so I can leave the tire fire that Lowe’s has become with Marvin in charge.

  1. Fair pay, I started working for Lowe’s in 2007, they are now hiring know-nothing, do-nothing kids off the street that are making more than me.
  1. Supervisors that actually supervise and support the employees and not hide out in offices and blame us when work lists don’t get done.
  1. Schedule enough people to cover the departments.

There is my top 3. Mostly I’m leaving because of these three. I get along with the rest of my department and feel we work well together. I actually lead the department since our department supervisor doesn’t seem to know he supervises us. He’s too busy sniffing around the front end.
