Shame on you!!! You have laid off senior employees that have given their heart and soul! You have chosen poorly. You also have not thought of your clients. I would like to walk into a branch seeing a familiar face. Not only young people who do not value face to face communication.
You will loose a lot of clients, we know if you mistreat employees, you will mistreat clients!
I love the original post criticizing young employees. Your generation complains about younger people being lazy and entitled yet the ones who want to prove you wrong should be let go over you? Also making the blanket statement that young people dont value face to face communication is hilarious. The business/industry is moving digital unless your at the branch! So I agree with the senior rep comment of "Get over the shame, the high horse, holier than thou. This is a business. A business makes money." Young people have all the same struggles like crippling debt including student loan debt, mortgage and family life. Stop making this about age. Layoffs s— no matter your age, race or job title.
But they are doing it to get rid of as many employees as they can over 50, but not obvious enough to trigger an age discrimination suit, especially since it is spread across multiple states.
I really love your response to this message. Maybe I need to look at it that way as well. Do what you are asked and be compensated for it. I put my heart and soul into my work. I always go above and beyond. Being responsibility and empathy high I don’t know anything else. But its me who is always on the chopping block during layoffs. Been through this three times with three companies now.

Enough of the heart and soul speech. I didn't get laid off, am very senior, and have not given my heart and soul. I did what was required, and got compensated for that. End of story. And if my services are no longer required, then I am let go. Simple as that. And if I find another position that pays better, then I quit. End of story. Get over the shame, the high horse, holier than thou. This is a business. A business makes money.
