Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Stores Massively Understaffed

Just out of curiosity went on the company website to view available openings at the location near me. There were over FIFTEEN positions posted—and they are not new positions. When I visit the store, I see often very friendly but tired, worn out, dirty, sweaty employees trying their best to handle the task/service load and wonder how I stayed in that environment so long. At least here it looks as if many employees are taking advantage of the good economy and finding other employment. I just wonder if this is the exception or the norm throughout Lowes Land right now?

More PT are going to be hired starting in November to replace the hours from the Specialist and high wage employees getting cut. Part-time positions will be used to staff the stores to reduce both overall payroll expense due to lower pay and leverage the payroll hours to have more associates at the peak selling seasons and quickly reduce hours off season.

staffing issues you say????......of course it's bad and there is no real desire for it to improve. Let's just look at the store i am at. $47 million dollar store that leaves money on the table every day. We have strong kitchen design demand and have only one designer for well over a year....trust me she is burned out . It has been several years since we've had a steady 2nd designer and we could probably use three. The store up the road (six miles away) has not had any designer for about a month. We in appliances spend much of the day apologizing for the kitchen situation especially when our designer is off. Now for deliveries we are booking into late October which is of course losing us some sales. We are down to one millwork specialist now when we had three as recent as early summer. Keep in mind that we have discussed only a few departments and we know that their are hundreds of similar stories throughout the company. This level of ineptitude can only exist by design or incompetence. Either way we are beyond saving/

DE Shaw & Pershing Capital (Activists Investors) have hired Ellison & McFarland turning Lowe’s into Sears 2.0!!!

They are bleeding every penny out of the company they can. When the stock falsely hits the number they want, they’ll sell and move on to their next Victim!

Most stores are understaffed. With the unemployment rate where it is, most people have a choice of where to work, especially in retail where a lot of the jobs are unskilled. If one retailer is paying better money, then that’s where they work. It’s not rocket science. But Lowe’s somehow thinks it can still keep its wages low and still keep its stores staffed. You are seeing just how stupid our corporate leaders are because people are leaving left and right because if you are going to be a cashier or salesperson, you might as well get paid the most that you can.

Lowe’s has also begun a new program to give associates and new hires a sign on bonus if the current associate refers someone who gets hired and stays on for at least 60 days. The bonus is $300. But that’s not going to cut it if you can get a buck or two more per hour at WalMart or Target. Lowe’s once had a reputation for paying well. That’s long gone. Now we accept the dregs and the leftovers who have been fired from all other retailers. It shows in the stores and eventually it’s going to show in the numbers. Like all retailers, they’ll only give a d*mn once it starts hitting the bottom line.

We have two 19 year old head cashiers at my store; if there’s a party they are calling off.

These teenagers supervise cashiers old enough to be their moms and grandmas.

Why are you still even on these websites if you’ve moved on from Lowe’s? Focus on your new job and stop living in the past. Getting out of Lowe’s is the best move for everyone, no point to keep dwelling on it.
