Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

NC Trip?

Has anyone heard of SM going to NC in a couple of weeks? Ours is scheduled to go... Big changes coming? Why would they get called all the way up there if there wasn’t???
Damn, this place is awful

They go up and get brainwashed by Marvin's antics. They even get to see his office etc...and of course he uses the scare tactics on them " If your store doesn't perform..I don't need you!" ...that's the just if it. Ours has already been. Be prepared for them to come back brainwashed

I used to work for Home Depot. This is a very common strategy to get the managers together to go over business expectations and any changes coming down the pipeline. I like Marvin and how he conducted business at Home Depot. I understand he is just trying to reach an under performing customer base at Lowe’s, the contractors. I don’t think losing the core customer, which is the Specialty Customer by downgrading the store appearance as well as the associates available to service the needs of a more demanding customer base is the way to go. The stores are gaining a rougher appearance and customer service experience indicative to Home Depot... I do hope he brings back Giles Gym Bag.

One of the great joys I first experienced when I started working at Lowe’s was the excellent customer service. I was able to say “How can I help you” and mean it. The managers are on the floor and available to customers as well as employees to help fulfill the best shopping experience possible. My Store Manager knows the people shopping in his store and let me tell you this is the exact opposite of Home Depot. I think Marvin should continue promoting this “Home Town Local Store” shopping experience while growing Lowe’s business. This means knowing the customer base and not alienating the existing customers for contractor business. This is my two cents.

You get what you pay for and Marvin was bought cheap so the end result will be as you see

They're likely applying for a corporate lackey job so they can jump off the Titanic.

Our store manager already went to it, like the previous poster said it’s all indoctrination and koolaid drinking. He came back singing Marvin’s praises

They have been bringing in the store managers district by district for Lowe's University indoctrination. From comments elsewhere, it's a week of drinking the KoolAid.
