- it's going to be an absolute catastrophe. My hope is that our situation is echoed and mirrored across the entire company. In my mind, I don't see how it can't be; given the conditions that everyone has to contend with the last five months. This club was running fairly shorthanded prior to the implementation of block scheduling, but still managing to stay relatively on top of things. Since then, though, CIM has been completely abandoned, stock levels on the floor have plummeted to horrendous levels, there is hardly any control of freight locations in and out of the steel, thus creating thousands of ghost pallets, tracking of partials is haphazard at best thus losing all control of FIFO and some product is actually nearing and even passing expiration in the steel, there has been a tremendous amount of backup of all categories of clothing with the bulk of it sitting on the dock going back several months, and whole host of other issues. They only just began pre-counting everything less than two weeks ago and fire-drilling at the beginning of this week and even after all of that, the locations indicated for product I'm trying to drop are coming up with nothing even though they claim to have wiped the system before setting the current locations. Very few of the stockers in the evening and the morning have ever been shown or had to utilize the count adjustment on a TC-70, and to make matters worse, the MAPM and two CMs from other clubs have been with us this week and can't seem to understand how things could have spun so badly out of control at this location. We're supposedly one of the top clubs in our market and one that has been designated as the location where much of the training is conducted. That being the case, it seems high time that these clowns better get around to all the other clubs and see how far things have gotten out of whack with them because I know for a fact that we are far from the worst. The ignorance that exists at the market level and above can't possibly be quantified at this point. All these people see when the walk these clubs is the smoke and mirrors. They come in and are given the dog and pony show treatment and think everything is at least OK, then proceed to go about their business of being totally disconnected from the realities on the floor of every club they're supposed to be responsible for. We wonder why nothing is done and no one of any significance is raising red flags or trying to bring about reasonable change in effort to get the company to adopt more rational processes for taking care of the stores the way they should be. The age old practice of cover your own rear end will eventually collapse and expose everyone....hopefully. So, yeah, this club has all pieces in place for a disastrous inventory in a few days - and I'm certain hundreds of others do as well. I hope that's exactly what all of them get in the end and maybe it will result in some kind of a wake up call for the company. However, the realist in me says that they'll bungle that opportunity, too, or use it as a way to come down on us, at which point a lot of people will drop their name tags and vests to the floor and walk out.

Just sit back and watch the chaos. They took away all the methods we have had to reduce shrink and want to know why. They need to lie in their own bed and roll in the filth they made of one of the best loss prevention processes out there.
Yup. Par for the course. Utter ridiculousness. Sadly you just have to not care anymore. Save your sanity go through all their motions, play their game.
Whose reading all this?
And now today they got rid of sales floor tool. Good luck knowing what is in the steel now.
Any club that claimed to have a good inventory since audit team was eliminated is not being truthful or they fudged the numbers.
what is the big deal...most of the loss can be tracked back to management not providing enough help to get things done...i am talking about local managers all the way to the top.
It is NOT the fault of the workers that things are bad. Workers should not get all bent out of shape for bad inventories. Do your job the best you can and they can not realistically expect more.
I sleep well before during and after inventory time. Well, except for all the extra time spent on pre counts. That is ridiculous sometimes.
Do I want the club to fail or falter ? Nope. Will I cry if it does ? Nope . Because I have understood for a long time that every issue that is a real issue in the club can be traced back to a manager dropping the ball or trying to get around or out of policies.
So go to bed tonight , let the pleasant dreams of a better day come to your sleepy mind and rest well knowing that the horrendous inventory is NOT YOUR FAULT !!!
I feel for you... Management will always point the blame elsewhere. I wish I had some pointers to help you out. I was in a horrible horrendous inventory before, but it was a club they sent us to help out at. The only thing that kept me sane was knowing it was not my club. I felt sorry for the team that had the mess to deal with. I don't know what happened to them, but I bet blame was placed on the associates.
It's bad. It's real bad, but home office can't, or won't see it.
