Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

AE’s email

So we’re calling mission accomplished on what sounds like a POC? Yawn. Wake me when we really close the deal with six zeros or more.

AE will probably leave when Aternity splits off.

IBM is taking in anyone and everyone to drive growth since IBM missed their earnings target 5 quarters in a row. In order for IBM to prove they know what they’re doing, they need to invest in technology partnerships and acting as a reseller to try and spark growth - also IBM need not rely on RHAT for growth since this is something Wall Street is keen on.

So this Aternity might be related to initial investment costs for IBM to learn and maybe use Aternity. As far as driving IBM and Aternity growth, we’ll have to see, there’s a good chance the IBM services and business teams can do a better job at selling Aternity than our own reps.

It’s all about wait and see, I’d say by Q2, if pipe isn’t weak and cycles are long, I’d consider selling The BU at fire sale prices - hopefully Aternity will break off from Riverbed first, last thing riverbed needs is to be collateral damage.
