All they did was take new pictures. The access cards were not reprogrammed.

Just guessing but since only 500 Finance and IT will be leaving before 3020Q1 end, and the 130 or so GDG impacted very soon, there will still be a remaining significant group on webster campus. Perhaps with building leases upcoming they want access provisioning completely separate-no ability for XRX to accidentally grant access to a leased out building. This may be one way to accomplish that.
What's the point of doing the rebadging at this point in time with things as bad as they are? Why spend the time, effort, and money to do this?
Facial recognition? I don’t see the value to those thugs. Cameras are more likely due to any unrest or rioting that could occur when the news finally hits home. That way they can withhold severence based on “video evidence of policy violation”.
I heard the rebadging was due to the fact someone who no longer worked at Xerox was using a badge and getting in. Truth? I don't know.
Hope it’s urgently needed to justify costs incurred.
They also installed new security cameras everywhere. I agree with the facial recognition database reason..
It seems like a waste of money to do right now. I don't see how it helps with security at all. As a previous poster said, the actual access card to get you into buildings is the same, it's only the part with your picture that changes, and nobody ever actually sees that since I don't know if we have any guards in the Webster complex anymore!
The badges are exactly the same minus the change in graphics on the front. My access card is the same one I have been using for years. They just peel off the old sticker and put a new one on.
Conspiracy theory: your Webster facility access ends when you get your new badge if you are not one of the 25-45 to make the trip. Illegal, unlikely, but floating this idea may make some think harder about what they are not doing.
Badges need to be compatible with new facilities such as Cary, Raleigh, other but seems that could be accomplished after the move begins, or is announced. The fact it hasn’t been announced is mind-boggling. I recognize a comm mtg where hints where dropped but a “35 people will be moving on mm/yy and the remainder will not” would allow planning.
Facial recognition database build, perhaps?
All of Xerox, including XBS cores are getting new badges. It's supposed to help with security.
Maybe we will get new powerpoint templates too.
Everyone all over is getting new badges.
