I have a question for anyone who wants to respond. I've been with Sam's Club for 12 years in January. I'm a cashier. I have been a produce lead for 3 years, several years ago, I stepped down. Anyway, getting to question, does seniority mean anything with the company? I ask because I've been wanting to be a COS for over 4 years, keep getting overlooked, they always give the position to one of the favorites. Now, they are training someone, don't think he's been there a year now, but he's been helping out with being a COS.

We have 5 MSL's. I work 2 Sunday's a month. Every 4 weeks. Sounds like someone doesn't want to work Sunday's and your getting them all!! They are definitely not following block scheduling for MSL's.
Seniority means nothing. Especially since most of the sheep making the policies or promoting in clubs have none nowadays.
Seniority means NOTHING with this company, it's all about the GM's favorites at my Club.
Not at all. You may not be qualified as you think you are. Just because you were a lead means nothing or they’re considering you stepped down also.
Stepping Down is not looked as "Good" trait for someone looking to be promoted.
The only thing seniority good for, is assurance that you are making the LEAST amount of money in your department.
Favoritism is at an all time high I have never seen it this bad seniority means nothing and neither does leadership skills alot of people are being put in high paying positions because of whatever manager they are friends with.
I think every club is different. I can tell u 100 percent some of our cos does not have even an ounce of leadership skills. Heck our manager doesn't either. And we have 3 cos in morning and 2 at night. There is a lot of times even with 3 in morning there only one working and at night a lot of the time there is just one most of the time. That is where I come in. I don't make 18 dollars an hour but I still help them out. I only make 11. People say u shouldn't help them but it's not their fault it's home office or the CM. Some are my friend and well I won't let them go without lunch or break. Maybe one day they will realize they need a fill in cos and hopefully remember all the help I have done.
Doubtful though I mean why pay me 18 when I already help for 11? I am the stupid one I guess lol
From what I’ve seen, once you had a team lead position and stepped down, you’re pretty much finished.
Well according to my gm in regards to COS we have the 5. 2 on AM shift and 3 on PM shift. I was told one weekend off every month and days off need to be apart, meaning not together.
Reality.
Most senior COS get's every other weekend off and does not work on Sunday. (COS works the PM shift) I have no problem with this because the COS has over 15 years with the company.
4 COS have every Sunday off. (Yup all 3 PM shift have all Sundays off) It has been like this for more than 6 months. (In order of time with company highest to lowest 15 years, 4 years, 3 years, and 2 years next year.)
My weekend apparently is Friday and Saturday. I have over 8 years and when I questioned the Sunday deal I asked if I could do Saturday as a regular day off since I was the only COS on Sunday.
So you are probably wondering how Sunday works with no PM shift COS. Well the PM Merch Leads get that responsibility and I been told via my evaluation that the only reason I am getting Solid Performer is because I have some time at the club.
I think it's according to the club u work at. As for the favorites yes they have them and it doesnt matter how long u been by there if he's the fav he will get the job. Just a fact. I hate that and I am sorry for u it's the same for me Sam's club don't have any integrity or ethics nor do they care about loyalty or even honesty any more. It's gonna eventually bite them in the butt. A place if business will succeed with workers who care and not ones that don't give a c-ap and are there for a check. That is something home office needs to learn several high ups got huge raise while their employees get nothing. They already made more in a month than most employees make the entire yr. They use to be a great place to work now they are horrible.
Seniority doesn’t grant anyone promotion. Leadership skills do.
