So as a recent acquistion of IBM that was slotted into GTS, I received the notice that having missed our targets there would be no bonus for the quarter and it made me curious how frequently this has occurred to GTS in the recent past? How often are bonuses not given or severely cut?

We didn’t get a bonus for 2 years then came layoffs. After the layoffs, a bonus was given out, IBM ended up splitting up the loot from the poor folks who lost their jobs. Happens all the time.
I doubt this applies to entire GTS. We have received bonuses the last 3 qtrs and numbers were down.
Considering “services” targets are 70-80% baked before the quarter starts due to long term contracts it’s kinda tells you where IBM is at when they say we “missed” doesn’t it. If management can’t see 90 days into the future and forecast it, then you can drawl one of two conclusions.
- management is incompetent
- management will not tell the truth to upper management when an impossible target comes down.
Either way is this anyway to run a railroad? Oh wait we are a “services company”
