Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

TBC

Anyone here about TBC departments being the next ones they are looking at closing? Been hearing chatter and just was curious if anyone has heard the same and if so when? And which ones?

Heard that they plan on making it special order tires only and not going to carry in club stock.

Never say never... It was said about audit, ptc and overnights. It doesn't matter how much was recently invested. If they want to close it they will. All it takes is some id–t to bring it up and the others to say ok. Their all a bunch of monkeys working at home office.

Not happening, the amount of money invested is huge. The automotive industry is not going away.

We just got new tablets, they have a 2 year rollout you can find on the wire. A new developed app, streamlined service.

During a no charge service members spend an average of 167 dollars per visit.

they would not have given raises in TBC and spent money on technology if they were going to close it down

There are no plans to close down the tire Departments the company would have to refund all the money the members paid for the service package you cannot tell some one they have a lifetime service then eliminate the department

I work in tires, I've heard very little but what I have heard is based on if club pickup really picks up and takes off. I heard if that happens of possibly closing tbc down and using their area for more club pickup and the shop as pretty much a drive up spot. Idk how true this is but just something little I have heard. Also the new membership desk at my club is going to be right next to the tire department whenever the switch happens. 1 thiing I do find a little weird is (maybe it's just me) but also my club is one of the test clubs that now open at 9 am instead of 7, but lately the past 2 months the managers have been stressing coming out to the shop every morning we open to make sure the tbc doors are open, No big deal but they have never done this before an I have been with sams just under 8 years all in tbc, But also my club is up northeast which now is starting to get somewhat cold out but they still stress the fact of doors being open but Guess will see what happens when It gets even colder. But no it would not surprise me if they did end up closing down tires, I'm also waiting to see what happens when the iPads fully take over tires. I'm hearing we won't have a register so I'm guessing they only plan on taking credit cards in the future? We will see what happens.
