Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

With things only getting worse.

I'll ask everyone, what is your breaking point now? Myself, I do not understand why everyone is clinging to this place. Only a small few would have a legitimate excuse as to why they still stay. I just handed in my 2 week notice today. I am done with the games. My life is meant for so much more than this torture. What about you? Who is about to break? How much more can you take?

Just quit this morning because the manager that has been yelling at me on the floor started in again today. I dropped down to part time and he told me that he would sign my availability paper but polled me in the office and asked if I would come back and work Sunday's I told him no. So this all started with him not getting his way and treating me like a dog. I was going to talk to the GM today when she came in and tell her that next week was my last day so what's a week. On my way out to my car he said something to me but I could not understand what he said, such an jerk.He also told me I had 72 hours to pick up my check. I fell free after 23 years!!!!!!

I'm telling the manager tomorrow that Fri. is my last day, was going to wait another week but what's 1 week ! My dept. manager has been an real a– to me because I wanted to drop down to 28 hrs. from 40 and I have Sundays off & so do 2 other women in my dept. so he asked me if I would come back & work on Sundays again I said no, that started him getting really ugly with me twice with his mouth so I'm done after 23 years. Won't be there for the big Sat. 1 day sale OH WELL!!!!

I wonder myself what my breaking is..Been here so long I think I might know what an institutionalized prisoner might feel like. lol...If I were financially able I would leave today and never look back. When I finally am gone there is absolutely nothing here I will miss. NOTHING ! I might miss some of the folks I work with. But likely just insomuch as they are the one i commiserate with over haw truly truly horrible this place has become and is getting worse by the minute. I will likely ride the wave til it crashes onto the beach. And it is going to crash. We can not continue on this misguided path and not crash. Probably more like an airplane in a tailspin rather than a wave on the beach.

I used to love working here. I told others that Sam's was a great company. I was proud of my job and always received great evaluations. The past few years things changed....a lot. The change was gradual at first, but became a landslide the past couple of years. I finally had enough and quit in July. I was miserable and the stress was affecting my health. Visits from management were nothing more than tests of endurance. I am so much happier now and I am again proud of the work I am doing.

Get out. Don't wait. Just get out.

Theres a lot of jobs out there. Even if they might pay a bit less, the sanity you save by leaving is worth it 10 fold.

There is no breaking point for me, to be honest. I realized some time ago that this company will stop at nothing to rid itself of as much payroll as it can and that this is a never-ending pursuit. This past May my wife and I started our own business with the goal of ridding ourselves of having to do what we've been doing to make ends meet for the last few decades, and try to put ourselves in position to not have to answer to anyone but ourselves. I'm only here these days on a part-time basis. I don't work weekends unless I want to and I pretty much pick up between 24 and 32 hours per week. I have no emotional attachment to this job or this company and can walk away at any time without feeling the least bit guilty about it. The reason I get so outspoken about the things this company does is that I don't like how they treat the people in the trenches (us) and I think they are irretrievably stupid with how they are destroying these stores operationally, which means they have little to no regard for their customers. The only goal I have left is to reel off an epic screed that is similar to what I do here, concerning everything they've done and then email it company-wide, Once I've done that, I'll just wait for them to walk me out of the club.
