Unethical Behavior Happening at My Store

My club manager is making associates turn in their car keys or driver license to check out walkie talkies and TC70 is this against company policy to collect such personal and private information to use company required equipment that we are forced to use identity theft is on a rise and I’m sorry I don’t trust handing over my drivers license for 8hrs or my car keys as anything can happen also our lot attend associates as well as gas station associates are forced to wait out side for 30mins ( at 930) pm team leaves before they are able to come inside if something tragic happens to them because management refuses to open door who is held responsible is my club the only one having this issue and what shall I do

Call ethics? Duh.

If you don't agree with it then ask for the policy. No printed policy. No-go. The problem is people treat the company property as their own. If everyone turned in their equipment then no problem would exist.

They cannot request personal items, it is against company policy. They cannot lock you in the building, if you have to leave and cannot wait tell them you have to go then go out a fire exit. Believe me you will get their attention then. There should be managers and team leads in the building with keys; there is no excuse for not letting you out of the building. As a matter of fact, it is illegal to lock someone in the building. Google search "chicken process plants" lock doors, workers die in fire. The managers and owners are in jail.

If you get any warning verbally documented or written; open door the issue, stating you did a time adjustment because you could not get out of building or had to wait outside. Caution; they will verify with the cameras how much time you waited.

At our club, everyone has 2 name badges. If you check out equipment you put the second badge in the slot of the equipment you checked out. If you need more than one, then have them make you another badge. At the end of the shift, you put the equipment back, get your badge back. If no equipment turned in, they know who to talk to.

I haven't even touched a radio since coming to days.

I need a 70 everyday.
If I had to hand over keys or ID I'd tell them to keep it. I'll just use feel to drop stuff and not bin stuff up.

I would not give them my personal items. That is preposterous. You can call the Ethics Hotline and report it anonymously.

A lot of clubs pull that. Keys or driver's license... It goes away after a while. I've never seen a club stick to it. As for having the doors locked, they're allowed as long as it's not during business hours. Do a time adjustment every single time. You are allowed to do that too.

As far making associates wait at the door, that's the norm here in CA. Notified MM and he took it as complaining. We were off the clock waiting to be let out, locked in the club. Nobody does anything about it. I just fix my time in the morning to what time they let me out. A couple of times it pushed me over the 8 hr mark and I got talked to about having OT. Explained to them we don't get let out timely and if I'm locked in the club and cannot leave, I will be paid for that time.

They can't even keep track of any club keys. I wouldn't give them my personal keys. I don't believe they can request any personal items. Too bad theres no real HR to contact these days.
