Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

The Last Stand

It was about four months ago I was furloughed from UP. They say there are seven stages of death with the last being acceptance and the first denial. I learned the hard way its almost the same when you lose your job. I kept asking myself why this happened. I followed the rules, had near perfect attendance, and was a hard worker. The company was making record profits and business was booming, so what was the reason?
After a 9 day grinder gaked to the hilt on Columbian brown brown, I sobered up and went looking for answers, I needed them, but more than that I needed the truth. Id been hearing a lot about a company named BlackRock ,so down I went on a 6 hour Google deep dive, I found an abundance of interesting intel so decided it was time to come up for air. BlackRock is the second largest shareholder of UP stock, second to only Vanguard. Laurence Fink the CEO is the true ringleader of the PSR movement. Jim Vena was hired to do the dirty work, but also to distract attention from UP CEO Lance Fritz who decided to greenlight the movement. Last and certainly least is Tom Lishner. You may know him from his on point videos on UP online, his camera skills are second to none, and his public speaking skills go without saying. I suspect he has high hopes to one day to sit at the big boys table.

UP will never go back to the way it was, it cant even if it wanted to. The culture has forever been modified, trust is gone, morale is leveled off and threats of layoffs are becoming more of an annoyance at this point. Brace yourself for the worst, because it has yet to come. God bless the Managers who are trying hard to hold the place together, giving glimpses of hope, there like the band that continues to play on the Titanic while the ship goes down.

If you got laid off 4 months ago consider yourself lucky the last four months have been about the same as before you were laid off except for the fact you’ve been able to enjoy time off on weekends with loved ones and friends and a normal sleep schedule which is a solid bonus at this point. looking into who caused this fiasco isn’t solving the issue the only solution is to get rid of the cancers that are in charge of implementing the PSR program. Enjoy your life outside the company and do yourself a favor don’t look back it’s not worth it and if you think it is that’s delusional.

My trust was gone about the same time as my probation ended, morale was always low, but now it's at an unbelievable new low. If they really want all of us all gone that badly, why won't they just go ahead and get it over with? Please quit threatening and just go ahead and put an end to it all. In their minds, when all of the crafts, unions, employees are gone they will have "won". I do not believe that they will achieve the results they desire from a railroad staffed entirely by contractors. The contractor cares because he is making big bucks. They guy he hires is not. So when you really need something done when it's really cold, or hot, or on the weekend, or holiday, or at 3:00 am in the sleet or snow, then we will see.
