Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Why do employees still do inventory? Travel and do other stores inventory?

We are so understaffed to start with, and now we are being taken to travel to other stores for inventory and now our own store. What ever happened to the outside company that did inventory?

Not just inventory, but we are traveling weekly to "help" neighboring stores" for any so-called "need." WTF!!?? Then threatened when we say we cant. We have stores in our district 2 hours away and we are not paid for this time traveling or mileage.

Every manager, and pro employee is required to be on inventory. Or so we are told by our store management. So who is going to work Pro or help customers all week? We have NO ONE in the store.

If Marv was any good, inventory would be addressed. Its a week of 12-15 hr days, no coverage at all in the store, no customer service, and a week of sacrificing sales and service. Next week management will make believe inventory didnt happen, and want to know why sales, leads, ccc apps, and all metrics were down and expect a VAST improvement immediately.

Reatil s—s, and Lowe's is leading the pack.

Counts for floor level use handheld scanners which take are supposed to take that into account. If you downstock or topstock during inventory you are supposed to mark your changes. Considering most discrepancies they want you to run will be for thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, missing one or two items because they got sold during the count is not worth worrying about.

How do you get an accurate count during operating hours? Waste of time.

You are suppose to be paid travel time. Usually you are suppose to go to your home store, clock in, travel to the other store, come back to the home store to clock out, and go home.

This is a program that market lp managers do to protect their numbers with the hope that stores will send their best people. In my old market we always sent service managers. Literally 16 weeks out of the year half the service managers were out of the store doing inventory. When you factored in vacations. they were out of the store about half the year. Its the dumbest system ever. Just budget for the OT during inventory time.

It's easy just guesstimate the numbers, who cares anymore!this way store can be counted in about a hour or so.if stores keep failing inventory maybe they will fix it by hiring yet another 3rd party to mess up even more.

Other stores inventory? Money/overtime. For your in stores though, likely you have no choice. Even if you tell them no, they schedule you anyway. Then what do you do, just quit? And that's how they get you to stay for thirteen hours a f—ing day.
