Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Now that I no longer have to drink the Kool-Aid...the web site S---S!

I was laid of at Macy's Technology. As expected, after the layoff my Macy's card reverted to the standard-issue card, and my corporate email address was no longer valid. When I asked customer service the best way to proceed, they said that I simply needed to go to my macys.com profile and update the email address to my gmail one.

The web site can't seem to handle that simple update, since my account is now asking me to associate my already-associated card with the account, but when I try to do what's requested, I get an error. I'm unable to see or pay my credit balance, and Customer Service is confused (to put it mildly). It's my lucky day though, since I've only been on the line for 30 minutes while they sort this out.

I used to be a company cheerleader (even though I'm a dude) before getting laid off , but now I can say that the website s—ity-s—s-s—s-s—s.

The tech part of Macy’s was created to compete with e-commerce companies like amazon that were taking business from us. However, due to unethical hiring/promotion practices, nepotism and poor leadership at Macy’s tech, the result is terrible.

I have used Macy's website for several orders and have to say that there is no comparison between the quality of the site vs. Amazon. I have run across several notifications that there was a problem with my order and I had to start the process all over again. Another challenge is how long it takes to get orders from Macy's, I ordered gifts for my family right after Thanksgiving and didn't get part of the order until after Christmas, and when the top I ordered arrived, it had white deodorant on the underarm area from where someone had tried it on at what I assume was a store that filled the order. No wonder the .com business is slowing down.

I heard that the cto was celebrating the growth of offshore work... as a way of cutting costs? We all know the quality of that work... soon the Macy’s site will be even more unusable. Any engineer who wants to save their professional growth should jump now.

It will be a mistake to promote in San Francisco / Macys.com Digital since they have no pathway to save the business. Digital is not competitive compared to other E-Commerce peers. This is huge corruption – Animal Farm.

Same way Gennette and Lawton can justify theirs. Grow up...... realize that talent and skills earn their way.

I know folks who are working for Macy's Technologies that are getting 'promoted' to the 'digital team' as the digital channel seems to be making more money. They are basically touting how they were Sr. Engineers in the Macy's Technologies team and now they are Managers in the 'Digital Team'. They get more than $200 per annum with salaries and bonuses.

When the company stock price is down 50% this year alone, Market capitalization shrunk to $5Bn, flattening sales and reducing profits. How are they even able to justify promotions and salary increases when the company is basically sinking?
