Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

why do ALL pro sports have a union and we don't

players have agents and unions to protect their interests we have none and get the union is bad thing. they keep taking and taking and i don't want to hear about 15 an hour that may or may not happen and you have all seen higher paid people fired for no reason other than for them to save money time to get together and show our power and not back down they can't run day to day without us that's why they call it compensation and they are doing every thing they can to cheat yes cheat us out of pay and benefits this can be a great thing the tyrannt fears you smack him in the head and stop being used.worst case you go to walmart or kohls or bj's or you get it

so to sum it up unions are good for employees and bad for corporations that's why they talk them down all the time. it was cheaper to produce those anti-union videos and make it mandatory for all employees to watch them.smh at you corparate again.

Unions represent the interests of all employees. They bargain with employers over contracts to establish pay, benefits and working conditions. Collective bargaining agreements, intended to create a fair workplace by setting clear expectations for employees, bring fairness to the workplace, are legally enforceable contracts to which employers and employees agree. Workplace rules are spelled out in the contract so employees and managers know the rules. Without such agreements, every day can bring changes which usually are not in favor of the workers. Collective bargaining agreements typically contain a clause requiring an employer to show “just cause” for disciplining and/or firing an employee. They make sure employees have a due process to defend themselves against unfair accusations by an employer. Without some kind of collective bargaining, workers will continue to have their wages driven down, lose benefits, and be impacted by erosion of safety standards while on the job.
Bottom line...Power never gives up anything without being forced.

FWIW, as of 2018, 10.5 percent of the American workforce were Union members, the largest part of is in the professional and service sectors – retail, restaurant, hotel, hospital, teachers – which comprise 59% of all workers represented by a Union. And these workers benefit from being in a Union. In 2018, unionized service workers earned a median wage of 802 dollars a week. Non-unionized service workers made on average, $261 less. That’s almost a third less.

So, no info then on what a union can do for me at Target? If it could help and wouldn’t cost me a ton of money to do it I might get behind it.

6daj, I looked, thinking based on your comments that there must be millions of dollars these 12 fat cat do nothing freeloading non-employee Target Corporate Board members make. Directly from the annual SEC filing:

Our non-employee director compensation program allows directors to choose one of two forms of annual compensation:
● a combination of cash and RSUs; or
● RSUs only.
Each form under the compensation program is intended to provide $260,000 in value to non-employee directors as follows

So then I looked further down on the compensation report for 2018 and found the highest number of stock options awarded last year to one individual was 15,687, which corresponded exactly with the IRS filing.
