Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Job cuts

This morning supply chain cut all the UP agreement operators and are bringing in contractors. They offered some of the guys jobs with the contracting company for much less pay. What a slap in the face. It is 100% non agreement now.

No supply’s issue is they want everybody else to do their work. Your environmental dept. wants us (mechanical) to do SWPPP inspections and take quarterly Stormwater runoff samples after a storm. SWPPP stands for storm water pollution prevention plan which sounds like an environmental issue not a car/diesel facility issue. The fuel dept wants us to assign a site rep to do weekly inspections on the fuel system. We have our own work to do. You need to start doing yours.

The issues Supply Chain have are largely caused by Engineering and Mechanical. All they do is b–ch and complain about every process. They think they can play by their own rules. They’re a bunch of id–ts in both departments. Supply has its own also but those two organizations are the worst run on the railroad aside from Corporate.

Our supply is working like it’s 1950. We need to modernize it for effective billing

just because you have a warehouse full of junk doesn't mean you know how to operate a supply chain in the modern era. UP wouldn't know a supply chain if it hit them in the head. terms such as total cost of ownership mean nothing to them. it's all short term thinking and what is the cheapest up front cost.

@fpn

These were under the fuel and environmental side of supply chain. Didn’t have any affiliation with shop supply personnel. But the whole department is definitely top heavy.

They need to cut ALL of the supply chain managers in the shops! Don’t need them. They order supplies and walk around and do nothing. Director of Supply Chain and VP of supply chain needs to be gone. Don’t need those positions either. Only need actual hands on workers.
